2 years sober

    I never thought I'd be sober. I partied hard during college, and was in a metal band after that. Drinking and drugs were just a normal part of day to day life. One day though, I was married with kids, but I never gave up the lifestyle. It catches up to you. When your wife threatens to divorce you and take away your kids, you have to make that choice. It wasn't easy, but I've been sober for two years and my relationship with my wife has never been better. I sometimes have dreams where I've relapsed, and wake up in a cold sweat like it was a nightmare.

    I'm new around here, but I hope to share my experiences and maybe give some advice on how I managed to keep going strong this long.

    Well done on your 2 year achievement nwalker85!! Thanks so much for sharing with us. Not many will know how much of a battle it can be to beat addiction - all those, very, hard days and moments where doubt looks almost insurmountable. Nonetheless, you nailed it! Keep going and we hope you'll hang around a help some of those who might be struggling a bit more than yourself at this point in time.

Well, I am glad to know that you are now leading a much better and sober life with your family.
