Hey Everyone, I struggled with addiction most of my adult life. I have been sober for the past six months but it has been tough. I started like most addicts in my teens and quickly realized I was different then most of my other peers that were able to have fun and then move on with their lives. Addiction consumed me, and I quickly moved from social drugs like pot or alcohol to cocaine and heroin. By my 20’s I was a full blow IV drug user and had been in and out of rehabs many times. Since then I have struggled with heroin and meth addictions but have worked hard on sobriety and continue to move forward. I know that my addiction is trying to kill me, it almost has a few times, but every time I slip I pick myself up. I’m happy I found this community and hope I can aid those that are also struggling and find support when I’m in times of need.

Hi @GratefulFred84 and @dayyad! Welcome to this awesome forum guys! Anyway, as the others have said, thank you for sharing your story and I'm glad that you have been sober for 6 months now. You have shown that through all the relapses and struggles of beating addiction, there is always hope. As long as you don't give up, you will eventually win the battle over addiction. @GratefulFred84 and @dayyad... Welcome to the forum and thanks so much for sharing with us. GratefulFred, it's really great that you have 6 months of sobriety under your belt. Congratulations on that!! Please keep in mind that nobody's perfect (newsflash, right?). So if you've slipped up in the past--and even if you slip up in the future--don't look at it as a total failure. What matters the most is how you handle the relapse. Remember that recovery is a journey...not a destination. There may very well be bumps on the road to recovery, but if you fall down and pick yourself back up, that's what counts. Just keep doing the next right thing. Dayyad... Congrats on your sobriety, too! I'm glad you're encouraged by our community. We are here to support and help people without judging them. We want people to feel comfortable here, and I'm glad you do. Keep coming back whenever you want to, guys. And feel free to offer up your support to others!
Congrats on being 6 months sober, and even if you slip up it doesn't mean that it's the end of the world, just keep moving and no matter what even if you look back and see it creeping back up on just note you have nothing to fear so long as you keep moving forward...
