A quote to reflect on

Hello. This quote is from the movie "I'm Still here" and it moved me profoundly. If you get a chance watch the movie as well (its an oddity but worth tracking down).

"That's you, drops of water and you're on top of the mountain of success. But one day you start sliding down the mountain and you think wait a minute; I'm a mountain top water drop. I don't belong in this valley, this river, this low dark ocean with all these drops of water. Then one day it gets hot and you slowly evaporate into air, way up, higher than any mountain top, all the way to the heavens. Then you understand that it was at your lowest that you were closest to God. Life's a journey that goes round and round and the end is closest to the beginning. So if it's change you need, relish the journey."

In light of this topic, I'd like to post a verse from a song by Good Charlotte:

    You come in cold,
    You're covered in blood.
They're all so happy you've arrived.
    The doctor cuts your cord.
He hands you to your mom.
She sets you free into this life.
And where do you go with no destination, no maps to guide you.
Wouldn't you know that it doesn't matter, we all end up the same.

There's one more line in the refrain that sums it all up: "You come in this world, and you go out just the same". So, yes life really is a journey whose end mirrors the beginning. All we can do is simply try and enjoy it as much as we possibly can.

I want to share a quote, too
"You smile and the world changes".
It reminds me of the profound impact our actions, no matter how insignificant they seem, can have on the world around us. If you follow the string of events that the smile can cause, it's pretty amazing...

I have a tattoo of a yellow smiley face ( the usual one), but with its tongue sticking out, on the back of my neck. I have thought about getting those words tattooed underneath it.

This reminds me of the saying (and I'm not sure who it's attributed to) that a pebble thrown into the ocean on one side of the world can create a tidal wave on the other. It's a little reminder for me that my actions, good or bad, have impact that is not always obvious but has the potential to be enourmous.

That quote is indeed an odd one. But it does make sense. It's a metaphor and it was quite creative. Always remember that when you are already at the bottom, then there is nowhere to go but up.

Lovely. The darkest hour is always before dawn. And in those moments we are much closer to God or ourselves. We reach deep within ourselves and draw on as strength that we didn't even know it existed.
I have certainly had moments where I thought I wouldn't make it much further along my earthly road, and suddenly a thought or feeling entered my mind and heart that changed everything from one moment to the next.

I heard a lot about this movie. Some of my friends recommended it saying that it is a must-watch.
Beautiful quote by the way, I may watch the movie after-all. It seems great.

I am not sharing today. I am taking everything in and digesting it. I love poetry and quotes and many days they have added some sunshine to an otherwise gloomy day. Thanks for sharing.

I found that this really helps you put things into perspective. Simply reflecting on the message and sucking in all the wisdom. Sometimes it's beneficial to just take a moment and ruminate over the meaning behind stuff. It is truly amazing what we're able to gather from all that.

Oh my favorite one has to be:

"Oh yes, the past can hurt. But you can either run from it, or learn from it." – Rafiki, from The Lion King

I believe those are the only two choices we have in life and dealing with our past, run from it or learn from it. which brings me to another favorite one of mine:

"Do, or do not. There is no “try”. - Yoda, from Star Wars

Be determined. Instead of intending to just try, do it.

    My quote for the day.

“A single day is enough to make us a little larger or, another time, a little smaller.”

This is awesomely inspiring. Such a good read. It says a lot. Every time, I'd feel like I'm giving up, I'd get back to this and read it. And as said, I will enjoy the journey and not treat it as a suffering. I hope I can do it, and others as well. What's with the quotes, why do they continue to inspire?

Wow! These are the kind of words that can touch hearts. Sometimes our lowest moments are the instruments in lifting us higher in life. They may not show at first but when we reach the end of the darkest days of our lives, there shines a very bright light for us to signal a new beginning. The things you guys have shared are very inspiring especially for people who are still at their lowest point right now. These words give inspiration and hope to addicted people.

Wow. Such profound and meaningful words. I have never heard about this movie before, but thank you for recommending, I would definitely watch this one. And yeah, I totally agree with you. Whenever we are in times of trouble, we know that God is just testing our faith in Him. Rest assured that He won't let you down once you truly believe in Him. :)

That quote not only reminds me of the Myth of Sisyphus and the absurdist strand of existential philosophy, but it also brings to mind these powerful lines from Thomas Gray's Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard:

The boast of heraldry, the pomp of pow'r,
And all that beauty, all that wealth e'er gave,
    Awaits alike th'inevitable hour.
The paths of glory lead but to the grave.

Hahaa, could not read it without singing it in my head. Somehow, knowing it made it harder to focus on it.
