I don't think so. It isn't about an addiction at all. It's being lazy. People wonder why obesity is becoming the norm, and instead of walking to the library to check out a book on obesity, we never even move from our chair. We pull out he smartphones and let them do the work for us. We get online to order pizza. Lord forbid we learn to read a map. Technology is the unhealthiest vice we have ever been plagued with. It's by no means an addiction, though. The only "withdrawals" if we didnt have technology, would be people breaking out in a sweat because they have to get up and do something themselves.
We must agree that this growing presence of technology has created a new form of dependence. More common among teens, technology or gaming addiction occurs when a person has a compulsive need to use devices like smart phones, computers, or video games. Most often, this addiction involves an obsession with interactive online video games, but other compulsions may be present as well. Like other addictions, the user comes to associate gaming with good feelings and a sense of escape. Sounds familiar, guys?
I can't argue with you about the online games. I know in Asia some children died because they couldn't stop playing to take care of themselves. It makes so sense to me, at all. I really enjoy studying right now. I have gotten less sleep than I have in a long time because I like to study. But I'm not going to go hungry, get dehydrated, not sleep at all, or pee in a cup or diaper or whatever they use. I can't wrap my mind around a game being THAT important.
It is nice to know that we are now in a world of new and modern technologies It can be useful and make our life to be fast in everything that we will do. But unfortunately I am not into buying of what is new and is in the latest craze of modern gadgets and devices. I had two kind of gadgets (a laptop and a cellphone) that I bought many years ago and I am still using it up to now. Even there are new and modern brands or styles that was introduced in the market I dare not to think of buying a new one. For me as long as my gadgets are still okay and can be use there is no reason to spend again for a new one. Maybe if I have many money why not but at a very young age I had already learned the value how to spend my money wisely and I had carried that trait up to now that I am older.
You can be addicted to technology albeit it is really rare. Being addicted to technology means you cannot live without it and has to be in it all the time. You lose your family and real life friends because you choose to have the internet as your life.
I'm also addicted to technology. In fact, I've always felt like I don't spend enough time outside with my friends and/or family, and that I could use some more vitamin D from the sun, though this doesn't happen in reality. It was also mainly caused by the fact I earn most of my money online, so...
You should ask yourself if making money that way is a product of your addiction to technology... or is your addiction to technology a result of earning money online.
You find that most of this gadgets are very useful and you cannot do without them. If you must use a pc in your office then it is sometimes impossible to avoid gaming. However, we can avoid other gadgets like gaming consoles. We should also learn to do constructive work and monitor our performances.
Yes I am addicted to technology to. I used to be addicted to it a lot for video gaming and entertainment. Now I usually use it for side income money making purposes which is still bad since now I don't sleep at all and usually would want to make money 24/7 which is a bad idea. Hey can't argue with the results though Haha.
I've been looking into different ways. I have heard so much about different sites with surveys or what not. I'm still looking for whats going to work for me.
I think that today's society is getting more and more addicted to technology and it can be as bad as let's say an alcohol addiction. Being too much around gadgets can really hurt your personality and also make you feel weak when you're in public since you're not going to feel that confident.
I think technology addiction is very real, but often perhaps a mask for other anxieties. How often do you see people constantly playing on their phones, even if they're out at dinner with someone? I feel like I see it all the time and it's like people just don't engage in proper conversation these days. I've seen people do it at social get togethers too - their friend or spouse has to walk away for a minute to use the bathroom or whatever, and then they're straight on their phone, not wanting to engage with anyone else (or perhaps being too anxious to?)
This can be addictive but at some point you need it. If you spend most of your time on your gadgets to where you can't function normally that's a problem. I think using these things reasonably won't hurt. Any thing can be an addiction if you can't stop it for a while. As long as it doesn't interfere with your everyday life too much you should be okay.
Definitely, people nowadays seem less interested in socializing and more interested in spending time with their gadgets. Actually I think this is one of the main reasons people nowadays are so antisocial. We are over abusing those gadgets, now I see more and more people ignoring other people while paying full attention to their smart phones. When people prefer spending time using a smartphone instead of socializing with other people... you know something is really wrong. If you ask me our society is going to hell. We are in decadence and we know what has happened to other societies right after that stage...
