Alcohol is a depressant. It causes depression. It makes it worse in the long run. Situations and stress drive people to drink to escape, but it is not going to help.
The most important thing that can enable a person fight both depression and alcohol is the person's determination. You need to resolve to put an end to the situation. The first thing a person needs to know is the fact that it will not be an easy ride. Nothing is impossible if you believe. As a Christian, I will seek the help of God. God has gotten me out of a lot of things I never saw myself getting out.
True. People drink a lot when they are depressed because they have nothing else to rely on to "put their problems away" even though those problems will still be there when they sober up. Fixing one of them will eventually aid the other. It's like a chain reaction.
