I think that it all goes back to stress. We all have stressful lives and celebrities have to deal with that constant pressure with fame. They have no privacy and a lot of people who say they are there for you are not. Your family are not as trustworthy either so it is hard for you to trust them with favors since they are leeching your pockets.

Just so you know, not every celebrity experiences the same problem. Some of them aren't really "pressured" in every sense of the word. Neither are they being leeched off by relatives and friends. Of course, it's understandable that a number of them do get the hang of their craft after years of serving in the industry, right? How come it's always the same excuses? You give them way more credit than they deserve. At the end of the day, whether or not to take drugs is still the person's responsibility.

Here's the difference between consuming cocaine and a light drug, we can see it in the face...

I can't say I entirely agree with you. Imagine having paparazzi constantly breathing down your neck and waiting for you to make a mistake they can exploit you for. Sure, cocaine can be one of them, but I'm addressing stress in the celebrities' lives. I don't condone it nor do I idolize them, however, I sympathize with them to an extent. It also depends on who it is. Many of them are leeched off of or the attempt is made. That is inevitable when people are rich. After winning lotteries, winners are recommended to not actively share the news. They start getting calls from friends and relatives they haven't spoken with for awhile. People begin asking them for more favors and being friendly with them solely for the hope they'll get something out of the relationship. That's depressing. They also have thousands of fans watching their every move. In order to keep up and please them, celebrities might turn to cocaine for that reason too. Again, I don't condone it, and I'm not giving them credit. On the other hand, I feel a little sorry for them.

A lot of people are starting to view cocaine the way that people used to view marijuana back in the 70's and that is not good whatsoever. Cocaine is on the rise and I don't understand how because it is one of the most dangerous drugs and people are aware of that.

Truth is most people lose their battles against drugs, and die. Or suicide as they can't afford their drugs anymore. But celebrities have lots of money so they won't stop doing drugs. I guess they don't have what to do with their money anymore.

I've heard some statistics saying that just 1 out of 10 makes it out of the addiction. I don't know if this is true or not, but no one can deny how hard it is.

This is a very good point. Indeed the life of celebrity or fame does shift from one person to the next very rapidly. I think it was Andy Warhol who said that "everyone will get their fifteen minutes of fame". For some celebrities, it's about trying to stretch those "fifteen minutes of fame" out as long as they can by remaining in the spotlight and it's very possible that drugs like cocaine may help with that. Of course, there are also those celebrities who get caught up or in relationships with other celebrities who are already using illegal substances and it then seems to rub off on them.

Managers aren't necessarily our friends, they might want the best for us at a professional level, even if that is killing us inside. We need to use our own head to think.

Stevie Knicks was famously addicted back in the days of Fleetwood Mac. Oprah just recently did a story about her recovery process.

I'm curious to know whether any celebrities who have come forward to tell their stories of cocaine abuse have also mentioned anything about being influenced by their contacts, seniors, managers, agents, etc to use the substance for career purposes?

I think it is such a waste that celebrities turn to cocaine. They all have such amazing talent, but yet throw all of their talent away for drugs. Very very sad indeed.

I think it may have to do with fame and the money that comes with it. When people have a certain amount of money and fame then they tend to believe that others generally wants something from them and so they are less likely to trust people and so friendship and relationships becomes hard. The feeling on emptiness and maybe the need to escape makes some turn to drugs.

I think the crazy schedules and the pressure to be thin are a large component of the cocaine addiction problem. Going to parties and networking is actually the job of a lot of celebrities, and they often have written into their contracts that they must attend so many events per season/year/month/etc. That, plus the fact that any time they gain 2lbs the paparazzi say they're "pregnant", leads to cocaine looking like a good option to many of these people.

I mean think about it, if I said you need to do cocaine for 2 years in order to make 30 million dollars wouldn't you try it?? I think I'd be tempted to if the stakes were that high.

Well being a celebrity means that one maybe easily exposed to drugs and alcohol on a regular basis especially with all the clubbing and partying. The stress that may come with being famous and the pressure to live up to certain expectations plays a lot on the minds of some and they turn to drugs to ease the pressure they feel.

Yes I can see Lindsay Lohan is not looking good for age and she is supposed to be 26 and Avril is 28 and looks youthful still. Avril just smokes cigarettes while Lindsay did cocaine and from the looks of things cocaine is one hell of a drug.

Lindsay is a terrible example, she really disgraced herself with hard drugs, so there is a huge difference between the life the two have.

Well, what comes to my mind, when I hear of this losses of celebrties, people who have all the money in the world and all the fame, I truelly think that they lack love, pure love and happiness, those are some of hte things that money can not buy you no matter what, finding someone who loves them for who they are and finding happiness deep in within themselves, I believe that when you lack thistwo you will do what you can to see if you can find them there, I feel that is why the turn to cocain and eventually they do not find it there, they end up overdosing and dying, thinking the higher they get , they might get what they are lacking in that state of being high.

You know what? It's not that surprising to note that cocaine addiction is on the rise amongst many. The fact is that cocaine, based on several medical studies, is really good at "tricking the brain" into believing that it's feeling more pleasure than it actually is, or that it the body is not going to feel the pain in the long-term that we know is going to come!
Cocaine, when consumed, sends a message to that section of our brain that tells us we are feeling "awesome". We feel almost instant pleasure, at the expense of our overall brain function. We lose our capacity to think, act and converse in a rational manner, and the consequences can even expose others to violent acts.
It's temporary pleasure for long-term pain. Not worth it.

Cocaine does generally speaking seem to be the drug of choice of the rich and famous.
I think at one stage it was judged to be the 'cool' choice of drug, i'm not sure if this is a result of it being part of the celebrity lifestyle.
