I was the same as many others. Since my dad had smoked for so long, the smell really didn't effect me as much as you'd think. As soon as he quit, the smoke began to become something I'd notice more and I'll be honest, it wasn't very pleasant.
Growing up in a smokers home I never noticed the smells. Now that I smoke outside I notice it almost instantly in someone else's home or vehicle. I hate the smell of raw smoke I don't think there's anything worse.
I couldn't stand cigarette smell. I sometimes don't even know how people could stand the smell too, do they like it or something? How does it smell like to them in their minds?
Woah, I hope your mom didn't smoke inside the house when you were a toddler? That would be awful. I hope that second hand smoke didn't cause you health issues later My fiance had the same problem while growing up, both of his parents smoked indoors when he was a baby. I can totally detect the smell of smoke clinging to his clothes.

My mother is a heavy smoker and unfortunately smokes in the house. I find it so embarrassing for me personally to walk past people and reek of cigarettes as I find the smell really trashy and dirty and disgusting. It's taken me a couple of years but I think I have finally removed all the types of odours from my clothes and whatnot and I don't think people would even know that I live with a smoker. Some things I recommend are: -Air purifier -Diffuser (using essential oils actually ELIMINATES odors and doesn't just mask them) -Baking soda in my closet -Keeping my room door shut and keeping a towel underneath the door so no smoke can get through the cracks -Open a window as much as you can if you have one -Take your clothes to a laundry mat as if you use the same dryer as the smoker the smoke smell is likely in the dryer believe it or not -Use baking soda along with your laundry detergent to really remove odors Call me crazy but I'm just someone who CANNOT STAND the smell of smoke it makes me sick to my stomach. Hope this helps!
