I love cake and other sweets and could eat it everyday but I don't. I know too much sweets is not good and I should give them up entirely but it is too hard. What are some ways that could help with the cravings of sweets?

You could try to substitute the cakes and other sweets that you crave with fresh or dried fruits and nuts. There is a lot of natural sweetness in cashews, almonds, pine nuts, and so on. Also you could try some tropical fruit for that extra sweet sensation. An another alternative is to make your own cakes at home, experimenting with sugar substitutes such as stevia, honey, etc. I think you can satisfy your sweet tooth in a healthy way on a daily basis.

Try snacking on alternatives, preferably small fruit like strawberries or blueberries to crunchy seeds like sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds. They are way more healthier and would be enough to get your mind off of sweets for awhile. Also stay hydrated and drink a ton of water before eating so you can fill up your stomach with the water instead of overeating food. Very good tip!

I absolutely love cakes and sweets, but you are right, they are not good for you at all. When I am having a craving for sweets, and fruits are not curbing the craving, I will buy a chocolate bar and have a couple squares off of it. A piece or 2 of chocolate will satisfy the cravings, and a chocolate bar will actually last me a couple of days.

I like sweets especially since my mom bakes so that is a huge plus. I love eating candy like Skittles, Kit-Kat, and Trolli Sour Brite crawlers. I like my mom's chocolate chip cookies those are really good along with her snickerdoodles.

I have the same problem, I love sweets as well! I cant seem to kick the urge to eat them but I have heard that when craving sweets eat some fruit or even almonds, they help to curb your cravings. I haven't tried this but people swear by it.

The fruits can be every bit as sweet as candy. And there are so many possibilities!

I think sweets can be addicting sometimes to the teeth, you can try eating raspberries or strawberries, which are nice for the teeth and the health as well and tasty too. I also reckon that eating nuts or some crackers which can be good for the teeth, also can divert the mind from the eating sweets or cake sometimes and can take will power sometimes to do it. I think that warm cake or muffins can be nice at times and try and limit it to a few times a month, as it can affect the weight and also teeth as well which will not be good.

Oh, that sweet tooth, I’ve been there. It’s getting pretty bad now that I work in an office where snacks are abundant, both healthy and unhealthy alike. I try to substitute sweets with nuts, seeds, and fruits, and it usually works. I also find that when I exercise on as regular a basis as possible, I have fewer cravings for sweets.

There are actually many ways to fill a sweet tooth that aren't unhealthy, besides an addiction to sweets isn't as bad as some make it out to be. As long as you still get proper nutrition on the side, get a decent amount of physical activity, one can be quite healthy while still being nice to their sweet tooth. But like others have mentioned, fruits and other naturally sweet foods can be quite delicious when prepared at home with proper ingredients, and they're healthy to boot. I recommend looking up some recipes on blogs or cooking forums online.

How bad do you suppose a fruit salad would be for you?

I also love to eat those sweets like cake, ice cream and chocolates and I am also trying to limit my consumption of it.
Good thing that you are trying to not to consume it always and so much. I think it will just be okay to eat those foods in occasion and not in large amount.

You should stop, resulting from self will. Too much sugar is harmful to our bodies including higher sugar levels in the blood, which is dangerous to our health. Sugary foods can damage our teeth. Too much sugar also contributes to a person being overweight.

I find that the best solution is simply not to but these things in the first place. If they are in the cupboard then I will want to eat them. If they are not there then I can't eat them.

@missbishi is right. Don't buy them, and tell everyone else not to buy them. Someone bought me chocolate frozen yogurt yesterday. And I didn't waste my time pretending I wasn't going to eat. I also have a thing for sugar puffs and raised bran cereal. I don't buy those either.

There are so many alternative sweets. Perhaps you can still eat those that use Stevia or other natural sweeteners instead of sugar. Fruits have natural sugars so you may want to eat more of them. Look for alternative sweets instead of totally depriving yourself. You may not be happy.

Fruit probably helps more than anything else. Bananas are the best substitute for me, and it helps with keep my potassium up.

There is no other way than going cold turkey, and no, don't even think of using artificial sweeteners that was my mistake (and how I gained a lot weight last year). Don't do it, artificial sweeteners actually cna make you crave sweet stuff even more. I know from experience, when I was using stevia to sweeten my iced tea my sugar cravings were really bad.

Just try to start eating less candy, until you can cut it completely. If you manage to avoid any kind of thing with sugar in it: cereal, soda, iced tea, candy, cakes, cookies, etc. I can guarantee the cravings should be gone. You just need to learn more about proper nutrition and start eating more fruit... you need to learn about the risks of sugar! Like for example, did you know cancer feeds and thrives with sugar? Thinking of that really makes me want to start consuming even less sugar than I do now.

I could eat a whole bag of Hersey's pot of gold candy in about 20 minutes no lie. I love my chocolate. I also crave ice cream, and my body shows it. I try not to keep sweets in the house because I have no self control when it comes to them.
