Do people lie about doing cocaine or are they honest? Ok so let me explain my obviously odd question because we all know that lies are in abundance with drugs. Someone who does cocaine to keep themselves rolling during the day. The functioning work-a-holic. Would they act like they hate drugs to create diversion? Like they completely would not ever want anything to do with it. This way no one would ever suspect. Act like they want to make sure you do not have a problem. Yeah, I guess it makes sense. If someone was a rock star when they were younger the only way to keep that up would be to stay high. Hide it because you're older. They have to do work that they really don't want to do because they are not a rockstar anymore. It's all an illusion to them. Let's just keep flying if I'm not in front of a crowd, I'll pretend I am. Cocaine and the brain damage that this causes someone. No wonder they would create such a diversion. It's almost like a professional drug addict. I mean if they truly believe that this is the best way.
drug addicts are as unique as everyone else. They are going to have their own reactions to it. My brother wouldn't tell the truth about his drug use, if his life depended on it. I, however, have never denied my occasional drug use to anybody, not even my parents.
I would lie about it when I needed to but would usually be quite candid about my use amongst friends - mainly because they were all using too. I'm willing to bet that several of these squeaky clean pop stars and actors we see are, in fact, secret users.
I can normally pick out people who are one drugs. Some lie about it, and will never admit it but other will if they think you're okay with it. Drug users will seek out other drugs users too, I don't think anyone has that secret from everyone they will typically have a group that is into drugs too.
I have one relative who claims to work eight hour days but I reckon he mostly smokes cocaine or marijuana for half the day and it gives him the energy to do work, and since he has leg and back problems can't work that much so takes the drugs to help him. Some people would not admit to using these drugs as they may think it can help them cope with stress or problems, and in the news you see people who got high and don't blame themselves but the drugs for the crimes they do. Actors use cocaine or marijuana as they have more money and power so they can do these drugs, and end up fighting a addiction for most of their life which can be hard to break from for most of them.
Well, pretending to be super straight edge could have the opposite effect, that whole "methinks thou dost protest too much" deal. If someone was going on and on about how they would never, ever do drugs I'd probably look at them a little funny. But everyone's unique. Some people are going to hide the drug use better than others, and some are not going to hide it at all.
Well, if they're around people that don't use drugs, you can be sure they'll act like they don't do anything besides a little drink every now and then. Drug users usually can tell if any other drug user is around, and they usually ask you if you've got some on you. A coke habit is hard to hide. As they say, "Takes one to know one."
My experience has been with non-drug addicts. Especially those in their late teens or early twenties. They will make up stories of taking certain drugs, such as cocaine to appear cool among their peers. While in reality, they would never even come close to talking to a dealer. In a way, I can understand why they do this even though they are being dishonest with those around them.
I would say it completely depends on the person.. I know someone who doesnt smoke weed or cigs, but does cocaine. He does it before work and says it keeps him going throughout the day.. But he doesnt ever tell anyone about it and does act like he doesnt like drugs at all.. But then ive known others who have done the same while being open about most that they do, with the right people of course... So just depends!
It depends entirely upon the person that is lying / being honest. Not everyone has the same personality. In my opinion, most people are not lying about doing cocaine. Whenever people told me that they did cocaine, it came down to the point that they needed help and were seeking my advice. I was very happy to help them because of how dangerous cocaine is. The best thing you can do whether or not they are lying is to be supportive and to try and get them to resist doing cocaine!
Many will never tell you if they are doing Cocaine. Since it is illegal, they may shy telling you about this. They can fear that you may tell the authorities to arrest them. Most do it secretly or with people they trust most.
I believe this is dependant on the individual. Some may tell you they are on cocaine as a joke or for bragging rights, yet some may tell you as a sign of help during a time of desperation. Unless you are entirely sure they were making a sarcastic joke you should try to get more insight as to the strange claim, especially if it was made out of nowhere.
i honestly believe that will depend on the person and the situation, for instant if a drug addict is around people that wont judge him/her they would feel comfortable confiding in them and some addict wont care who know or what they have to stay about it . while some addict will keep it a secret and deny it. in today society i believe a lot of people are honest about it since they are witnessing celebrities doing the same thing and they find it as cool.
I can understand if they lie for others. If they are older role models they may lie about using for the younger people, as they are looked upon like a role model.
I think a lot of people addicted to drugs really try to hide the fact that they're addicts. I don't think that it necessarily has to specify to cocaine, however.
So many people just have that kind of sense of humor, so that may be more difficult than you are making it out to be.
I believe that same as happens with alcohol an other drugs, with cocaine occurs the same and people lie because is a denial stage that all addicted persons fall into when regular use becomes abuse and the individual starts developing tolerance that eventually turns into a declared addiction to the substance of abuse.
I found that cocaine is more common in college than people would think. I went to an expensive "preppy" college and most kids seemed to be there to spend daddy's money. Cocaine became available and they had the money to pay for it. Sometimes kids would lie about drug use; often times kids would say they were high when they were not to appear "cool". Kids disguised it well, too. Some of my best friends did cocaine at almost every party they went to and appeared normal.
I know a guy that recently stopped doing coke. He lied about doing it and lied about a lot of things. It became a serious problem when he started selling things in his house. His wife almost left him but luckily she helped him through everything and now he's on the road to recovery. I'd say they usually lie though, no one wants to admit their a cocaine addict.
as elbowstain mentioned no one wants to admit they have any kind of addiction, specially guys. men in general don't want to appear weak so they're most likely won't admit such a weakness when they don't have to, but they don't keep it that much of a secret since they're interested in potential drug friends to get high with.
