I believe that marijuana is a drug in the same sense that caffeine is a drug. You can become mentally and even physically addicted after enough time and daily use, and it's use can affect your daily life and health. Caffeine can cause sleep disturbances, cause anxiety, and agitate previous conditions. It's also not very good for the heart. In the same way, marijuana can cause changes in social behavior, thought processes, and can even influence who you choose to associate with. Would I consider marijuana a drug in the same context that cocaine and heroin are drugs? Not quite. Those drugs, in my personal opinion, are much more likely to cause physical and mental dependence in a shorter time span with less uses before addiction is achieved. Not to mention the social stigma associated with these "hard drugs".
Marijuana is proven to be a drug. Some time ago a read an article from a psychiatric center that specified the consequences of consuming marijuana it can help with the production of mental illness for example. It is very often said that if you don't consume that much it doesn't hurt, but in the reality it does. Also every substance that changes your sober self and produces addiction is a drug. Like alcohol or nicotine, the only difference is that those two are legal.
Hours of research and I can't find how weed DOES NOT benefit you. The only con I can really fathom from it is not being able to drive and synthetic weed, all of the issues with weed that make a good reason for it to be illegal are because it's illegal in the first place. People finding alternatives because they are legal, killing themselves. People smuggling, dealing, and filling up prisons.
I do consider weed a drug as it is something you ingest that alters your state of mind. The term drug can be used in many forums, there are natural drugs, pharmaceutical drugs and illegal substances as well. I'm not sure about actually smoking weed because I think anything you inhale into your lungs in a smoke form probably isn't good for you. That being said, the main active ingredient in weed, cannabis, has been to known to have many health benefits, such as fat loss, pain management and a multitude of other positive outcomes of the human body. Is weed a drug? Yes. Does that imply or mean that it is a bad thing, I don't think so at all!
I'm sorry to say that in most countries and states, Marijuana is still categorized as a drug. You can't quite throw it into the coke category. Even in states where it is legal, it falls into the category of cigarettes, for which you have to be eighteen. So, it is still some form of adult use drug.
Weed is a drug and as dangerous as any other drug. It is a highly addictive drug. If you are addicted to weed then that can affect your life. You will not concentrate on performing your daily duties since you will be looking for a puff before going to work.
Marijuana is a drug, whether we consider it one or not. A different thing would to categorize it alongside cocaine, heroin, alcohol, etc. It has mind altering properties, so it shouldn't be viewed as an innocuous product, e.g. tea, but it certainly doesn't have the addictive potential of cocaine, heroin or nicotine. That being said, marijuana can be disruptive enough in a person's life to consider it harmful to those who have a predisposition substance abuse and are in an unstable moment in their life.
I believe that weed is a drug. The reason for this is because I feel like anything that temporarily or permanently alters someones mind is a drug, such as I consider alcohol to be a drug to. Even though it has a different effect then most other substances, it is still something someone can get addicted to. I have personally had a friend that was addicted to weed. I'm not against people, and the use of the substance, but I do believe its a drug.
I consider it as a drug but as a soft drug. To me it's like an alcohol, which I consider a soft drug too.
Weed is a two-faced drug. It destroys as much as it cures. I do not know the exact figures but non-profit and government organizations gathering data on drug incidents will affirm this fact: there are more lives destroyed than cured by weed.
I personally consider smoking normal cigarettes as a drug, and thinking about weed it is not much different. Of course it is not as heavy as other drugs, but still.
I agree it really comes down to how it is taken, medicinal marijuana isn't supposed to be smoked and there have been multiple studies that have shown the benefits of medicinal marijuana. On the other hand it has destroyed countless lives. I am in favor of medicinal marijuana but not recreational marijuana.
I do consider it to be. It alters the mind and changes your personality. It is addictive, so yes it's a drug.
Weed is as much a drug as alcohol, tobacco, or prescriptions. It should be consumed by responsible parties only.
Yes and like I said in similar posts, legalizing medicinal marijuana would require strict government regulation. Also, medical practitioners should be the only ones to administer it to patients who're qualified to take the drug. If you let people buy weed for any reason, then it's pointless citing "medicine" as a reason to legalize it.
To me, marijuana isn't a drug, but I understand why it's labeled as such. Its effects on the body aren't nearly as damaging as those associated with cigarettes and pharmaceuticals. Smoking marijuana, nevertheless, is a bad habit that should be avoided.
marijuana is off course a drug, it contains substance that gives sedation. However, many people takes excuses over marijuana because of its medicinal properties. Marijuana is psychoactive drug.
Of course. it is a drug. Weed has substances (Cannabinol and tetrahydrocannabinol) that alter your physiology and normal function, affecting your brain, that then proceeds to secrete endorphins, giving you a sense of euphoria, or 'high' as we know it. Anything that alters our normal physiology and causes us to act in a way that is different from normal is considered a drug. At least in medical science. If you, however, mean 'hard drugs' like cocaine and Meth by your use of the word drug, then no, I do not consider cannabis a 'drug' at all.
