Does Heroin help prevent withdrawal symptoms from being addicted to Subutex short term?
I have read that Subutex helps reduce withdrawal symptoms when used correctly for Heroin, but does it also work backward or am is someone bullshitting me? I don't believe this person. I believe addiction to anything is just a continuing cycle and to fully get off of any type of substance first you have to want to, but second you have to understand the concept of it all.
I'm an alcoholic and I've been sober for over 16 months and I understand most of it, but this person has been abusing drugs for over 16 years and this is what he is telling me.. "that using heroin correctly helps relieve some symptoms from Subutex" which to me is complete bullshit.
    What are you thoughts?

@rrusso99... Welcome to the community and congratulations on your 16 months of sobriety. That's a fabulous achievement.

As far as your question goes... I can't answer it. But I will say this: Even if heroin does help prevent Subutex (buprenorphine) withdrawal symptoms, I would never go down that road. Heroin is a dangerous, potentially deadly drug, and to use it that way would be, in my opinion, stupid. If the person you know is having trouble quitting Subutex, I recommend they see an addiction specialist. An addiction specialist can help them wean off of Subutex slowly and safely.
