    Yes, rainman it is always hard to take that first step. Sometimes addicts feel very discouraged too, as they have tried to change time and time again and have failed. It just seems like it is not worth the effort anymore. I think the more positively they can see their life without the substances they crave the better it will be, and the more successful they are apt to be without the addictive substances.

    Change is hard to deal with. But the person must realize there was a time when they didn't do drugs. There was a time they faced reality without the drugs. Having a support definitely helps to ease the anxiety on how will you function without drugs. The fact that you have people on your side rooting for you to become clean should let you know that some people will like you and want to be with you despite you not doing drugs anymore.
