    Hi All

After around 10 years of weekend binging on drink and cocaine, I am now completely desperate to break this cycle. Its ruining my health and marriage, the thing is I honestly don't know where to start to get help. What approach has worked for you ? Thanks

@kate- 90... Welcome to the community and congratulations on making the decision to break the cycle of addiction. You've taken a big first step and I commend you for doing that.

You may want to consider seeing an addiction specialist. They can assess your situation and recommend the best next steps for you. Addiction specialists are thoroughly trained in all aspects of addiction and know way more about the disease than "regular" doctors do. I also suggest that you seek out a support group--AA, NA, or SMART Recovery (12-step alternative)--and attend their meetings. Being amongst people who know exactly what you're going through and feeling can be incredibly helpful and comforting.

There are many ways to recovery and you have to find what works for you, because there is no "one-size-fits-all" method. The important thing is that you start taking steps toward recovery, no matter how small. Even baby steps will eventually get you to where you want to be. Just remember: It's about progress, not perfection. So if you embark on this journey and stumble a bit along the way, don't get discouraged. Just pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and get back on the right path.

I am sending you lots of positive, clean & sober vibes, along with tons of hope and encouragement. If you commit to changing your life and are willing to work hard at it, you can do it. I know you can.

    Love and light to you.
