What happens if you know a spouse who has drugs in military housing? Will they raid if tipped?
The chain of command of that soldier could do a health and welfare inspection if the soldier is in on post housing if they feel that the tip has merit. If the spouse gets caught they will have command sponsorship revoked, and the soldier will report to his superiors and be given 2 options, either allow his spouse to be barred from entering any and all military installations, as well as all benefits stripped, or the soldier can appeal and have the spouse attend ASAP.
Yes, but you will have to write a sworn statement.
The result will be that the spouse gets immediately banned from the base and the military member will get military charges.
Neither of them have any place in military housing or the military.
read the report on the Nimitz incident. The investigation board concluded that the marijuana use of those crew members in no way caused that crash. Pilot error was concluded as the only cause of the crash, and none of the members of the flight crew had marijuana in their system. Not saying that makes their marijuana usage ok, but those guys didn't cause that crash. They just had marijuana in their system, and had the misfortune to be on the deck when the crash occurred.
That said, yes they will be raided if tipped, the spouse and military member will be charged and will face criminal charges. The spouse in the civilian sector, the military member will face court martial.
If the spouse is using drugs and the Active member knew about it then they can easily be charged as well, then discharged from the military. You should speak to Legal or the Chaplain about it.
If the military member isn't doing it also and hopefully knows nothing about it, then it's none of your business. You can ruin their career just because they decided to marry a selfish idiot. now its a different story if Sergeant X over here smokes a blunt before work every morning and sells to privates. Then in that case, you should probably put in a anonymous tip.
This does seem a bit drastic. These are people who need help. I guess the military don't see it that way and are only interested in their reputation. It can be a hard life being a military man!
