    Hello everyone -

I'm looking for a good halfway house for my 19 year old son. There are so many and I cannot differentiate between them.

I'm OK with private pay if it means a better facility. We are hoping for a structured environment with peers that are also committed to recovery.

We live in NY, but are Ok with anything in New Jersey, Connecticut or Pennsylvania.

What is the best way to find a halfway house that is right for you?

    Thanks for the help!!

@craig22... My best suggestion is to check with treatment programs in the area to see if they have any recommendations. You could also check with local AA/NA groups. A good sober living house can be a fabulous thing for someone in recovery. The structure and community really help people transition back to a "normal" life. Good luck with your search.

I went through the system several, many times. Just make sure your son is clean from drugs before going into H.House. And really do your research about the place. Talk to someone who has been a client before! Many places are lousy and corrupt.
