How Has Cocaine Become So Accessible?

Before you wonder where this claim was made, I've read numerous reports on High-Schoolers and Colleges having access to cocaine especially at parties where parents aren't home. My question is, where does the cocaine come from and who's shipping it to the kids? Are there any ways for parents to intercept the exchange of drugs, especially the harder ones like cocaine? I want to know because as these drugs become more popular, I don't want my kids or anyone's to come in contact with this devastating creation.

Well, cocaine is manufactured in a variety of domestic and international locations and then distributed throughout the US. It's incredibly easy to acquire if you know someone who deals, and then it's fairly easy to conceal after you've obtained it as the end user. Unfortuntaely, there's not much that parents can do to protect their children unless they're watching them carefully for signs of drug use. Cocaine isn't being strewn about the streets or anything, but it's not that difficult to obtain if you're really looking.

I didn't know it's so easy to acquire it these days. This is very scary! I thought it's just weed but cocaine, this is definitely something new to me. It's best to educate the children about this type of drugs and what it could do to them before it's too late.

A friend of mine who bartends has been getting free cocaine for over two decades. She's of course attractive and blonde and a people person, so the patrons that come into see her are always slipping her freebies left and right while getting drunker and trying to flirt with her. Sometimes she has so much on her she would start throwing out lines for my friends and I when we were all together since she didn't want to be the only one in the room partying.

Anyone working in the service industry, particularly bars and restaurants, are going to be around patrons that have it on them pretty regularly. And many times the patrons themselves will confide with the bartenders that they are looking for some "stuff" themselves and ask if the bartender can point out who in the crowd is dealing.

As for teenagers still in high school - they are probably getting it from their older co-workers at various jobs. That's where I got most of my hookups as a teenager - working at places like Burger King along side some people in their late 20's to mid 30's who would invite me to hang out with them after work.

There is no doubt that cocaine as exploded in the last few years, especially over her in the UK. Not too long ago cocaine abuse was still quite rare and when it was seen it was frowned upon by most people. These days though it's readily available from most pubs and clubs and everybody knows sombody who takes it or sells it.

And of course, because of it being more and more popular, it's come to be more accepted, i'd even go as far as to say nearly as much as cannabis use is.

Cocaine has increased and is more available to people and also, it is a drug which is more available and also it is something that people choose to do. Some people make it in places where it is unknown and, it can't be trusted as well as some could mix things and also it will make people sick and more dependent on the drug. I think more people, think it is alright and also it will be just so easy to take the drug and just relax more and more.

It did used to be a rich man's drug due to the prices but these days, I don't know if the price as come down or if people are just more willing to spend more on getting high but either way, it's definitely more common now than what it ever has been.

Nowadays it is everywhere, thanks to strict measures put in place. The more it is scarce, the more it's price rises. Maybe the name lures many into trying using it. But the negative side is so steep than positive's. That's why we here to discourage it's use.

I don't think anybody on here would ever condone the abuse of cocaine or any other drug for that matter, but sometimes you have to look at things differently in order to raise points that people haven't thought about.

Asking how, and why it's made and how it's become more popular recently can maybe open up other questions that need answering.

I have to wonder if all the cocaine in circulation that is so easy to obtain is the genuine stuff. This is another problem with obtaining drugs, they may not be the real thing. Some drugs are diluted and these mixtures can kill you the first time you take them. People often pay for drugs that have been diluted and don't know it.

I don't think there's much parents can do to keep kids off of this type of behavior other than having enough experience and education on the subject to form and pass down lessons that are based on objectivity rather than just going off of what they heard on the media or what other people say, which then would make the advice and upbringing more grounded in reality and not just on words with no real weight behind them. I'm not saying it's necessary for each and every parent to have experience with any specific substance but I think an attitude of saying something is bad and dangerous just because everyone else who has never had experience with it either says so is ultimately going to prove to be ineffective. The best way would be to raise kids well enough that they would know what is right and safe instead of constantly having to defend against each and every possibly addictive substance or activity on the checklist.

Cocaine and Marijuana are so much popular these days because they have their own kind of subculture which attracts many teenagers to it. For example partying seems to go hand in hand with Cocaine and weed...

Where I live, it's probably the hardest drug to acquire around. Compared to 2007, when cocaine was roughly 10 euros, now you have to pay an extra 60% for risks that drug dealers take to acquire it to the last consumer, so yeah... not that easy to acquire, and I couldn't be more contented with the situation. I'm glad something's being done where I live.

Cocaine and most other drugs are easily available just about everywhere. Governments are just not capable of stopping the influx of drugs into their countries. The drug barons and dealers are on top of their game, and they are sneaky enough to find ways of getting their drugs to the users. Movies have also played a part in elevating that status of drugs, particularly cocaine. Therefore more people want to partake even though it's terrible for their well-being.

Never heard of pushers? They just come to parties with lot of people, especially parties where they know that they can find youngs that want to have some fun, and they approach them trying to selling the "dope" for a have good time during the party and hopefully make them "more attractive" from the point of view of the opposite sex. They are often addicted themselves.

I'm afraid that whatever you do or say, they are very likely to come into contact with cocaine anyway. The best thing that you can do is educate them enough to make an informed decision about whether they want to use it or not.

How you ask? Well, I'm sure everything in this way has escalated because of technology and the internet. Kids are smarter. They figure it out. The dealers figure it out. It's all about money and curiosity. Doing something that goes against the grain.
You want to keep it away from your kids. Ok well I'm pretty sure it all goes back to your relationship with them. Their education about drugs itself. Might be good to make sure they are educated about it. Understand it. Whether you are doing this or you find some kind of way to get them the education about it. They need to make their own decisions about it really. Trying to prevent and manipulate them from being exposed is not the best idea. They need to make their own choices and with the right information. They will make good choices and be safe on their own without parental interference. Keeping it away from them won't protect them, but giving them the knowledge will. Better to trust than to try and control. It doesn't work. This way when another kid or someone puts something around them they can walk away or say no thanks.

You can read the origins of cocain from this article - it's very helpful: https://www.deamuseum.org/ccp/coca/history.html. Latin American countries like Peru and Bolivia use it for medicinal purposes. Cocaine's current propagation as a recreational drug that twists people's thoughts and ruins lives can be blamed on cartels, apparently.

In the UK its become more accessible to the dealers aswell so in turn that will filter down to street level.

Somebody who just smokes marijuana for example will get offered cocaine when they go to their dealer to pick up the weed, whereas 10 years ago they wasn't. It's more tempting now because it's not as expensive as it used to be, and there's more people using it and it becomes a viscous cycle.

The more people buy it, the cheaper it gets. Supply and demand.

As someone else mentioned, if you work in any type of industry who sees a lot of drug users, alcoholics, etc. then you nearly automatically have access to it. As a teen I never once purchased cocaine for myself, and yet I was a very heavy user. It's not hard to find in the slightest if you have a little bit of charm and just happen to know what the right people look/act like.

Also, it's not nearly as strong as it was "back in the day". It's cut so much that dealers are able to charge much less than they did in past years, which is horrible and new users to the drug world don't even notice.
