How to stop

    Everyday I wake up. I cough cough cough and I eventually start to get sick let's put it in a clean way. Then after I brush my teeth to get the taste out my mouth. Then I go to my bedroom get my bowl and bag out load it up and smoke. Then I smoke a cig. Then I smoke another bowl then another cig. Then I go to work. At work working my mind is going. Clean this up weed. What am I going to eat today weed. It's like any thought I start having ends up with me wanting to smoke. Get home smoke few bowls then it's bedtime usually since have be up in morn early get my morn smoke in before work. Everyday is that exact same way. I use so much that it becomes like a bill at the end of the month in a sense. I spend about 400 a month if not more depending on if u worked overtime or not. I can't be happy with it anymore yet horrible without it. It's affecting my relationships I value yet I let this green bud affect me and I feel helpless and at times I feel like a.zombie never switch my routine up and my life isn't alive with smoke in my life anymore

    Hello there and welcome. Thank you for reaching out. I'm sure Dean has given you some great advice on the other thread. I'm glad that you see how unhealthy this is for your life. But I do want to encourage you and let you know that overcoming an addiction is possible. You just have to navigate this path to see what will work for you.

    Make a list of some things you can begin doing to recover from this addiction. If you're able to attend a support group, you could give that a try. If you can see an addiction specialist or counselor, definitely do that. Begin reading books on recovery. Watching YouTube videos on recovery. Perhaps begin exercising, as this does help some people. I think educating yourself on addiction can be quite helpful.

    There's definitely a better life for you out there free from this addiction. Your brain is used to getting this dopamine hit, but when you begin abstaining, it will slowly forget this Association. Eventually it won't seek this so strongly about getting high. But it's going to take some time and some hard work on your part. Do a little bit every day to remind yourself that you indeed want to be free from this, to inspire and motivate yourself to stay clean and create a different kind of life for yourself. If you relapse, just get up and start again...and again.... start weaning yourself down.....

    If there are areas of your life you're not happy with... work on those areas too. A complete life overhaul!

    Thing is everyone I know smokes. My family like dad sis cousins and friends I'm use to hanging with. When I start to get and quit I feel positive just when friends or fam come by its like a holiday tradition in a sense smoke and get high that's just being social. It's hard to stay away from people that use when your close to those people. How do I go about avoiding them until I am strong enough to resist temptaion when around others. I don't believe marijuanna is bad for all it's just i can't handle it so I want to keep my friends and family just want to learn how to coexist with the temptation that way I'm fine don't care about it then that way I can hang with my people.

    @Recover114 it is more challenging when those people you hang around smoke..... if it were me, i'd just tell them that until i become strong enough, i'm not going to hang out with them that often. it's kind of blunt, but i find being direct works for me most of the time. you don't have to give up your friends and family.... just maybe take a little break until you become stronger in your recovery. the more you work on you... your life...your recovery, the stronger you will get.

    @Recover114. I think @Dominica's advice is perfect. If being around others who smoke makes it difficult for you, then just remove yourself from that situation. That's an okay thing to do. Explain it to them, and if they don't "get" it, don't let that deter you from doing what's best for YOU. You should always put yourself at the very top of your priority list.

    @Dominica do you have any suggestions for recovery YouTube videos? I’ve never thought to look there and I have a feeling I will get lost in all the videos and never find a “good” one.

    @lonewolves hey there. i think it depends on what would resonate with you... there are so many videos... maybe just sift through and see what speaks to you... there's everything from advice from professionals, recovering addicts, treatment centers, and more....

    if i think of a few, i'll put them here tomorrow.

    on a different note, i watch a bit of motivational videos regularly... there are many and most are great!
