Inpatient treatment

Discussion in 'Questions About Treatment' started by ThanushPoulsen, Oct 16, 2018.

  1. Hi there,
Try to be short. I have a friend who needs addiction treatment. He has severe drug problems but, as far as I can see, he want to quit. I suppose that inpatient treatment is what he needs. I read on Addiction Resource that it works in such cases. The only problem is that he his family does not care of him and his financial state is bad, he has no one except me. I also cannot use big sums. So, maybe there is some alternative or, at least, something that can help for a small budget?
    Will be grateful for advice.

@ThanushPoulsen... I'm sorry to hear about your friend. My suggestion would be to find an intensive outpatient program (IOP). A good IOP can be very effective, and the cost is considerably less than inpatient care. Also, AA or NA meetings would be good for support for your friend.

I hope your friend can find some help and overcome their addiction.

@ThanushPoulsen Hello and welcome. Thank you for reaching out. You are a kind friend to look for alternatives for your friend. I agree with Dean that IOP is an option, as well as support groups. There are also addiction specialists or counselors that may be able to help. Please let us know if this helps you in any way.
