I came across beautiful quote today that I thought was worth the share.

"Don't be ashamed of your story - it will inspire others."

You never know how story can touch someone else, so keep sharing, you might just keep someone else going.

All stories have something positive in them. Its human nature to be hopeful and find hidden gems in other people's lives. Also, it does not hurt to inspire even if you don't have a story that you think is not worth sharing.

I've found this to be the case so often! I had times where I felt like it was a shameful, embarrassing thing that people would judge me for. For the most part, people have been amazed at the strength it takes to overcome it - and that is great for awareness, too! So as well as trying to inspire others who may be battling addiction, I also think it helps others understanding of the fact that addiction can truly happen to anyone.

Aw... Thank you for this post! I think it's very important that we share our stories of struggles and failures and how we were able to get through them. I cannot remember just how many sobriety, relapse, addiction and failure stories I have already read. All of them has inspired me to be a better version of myself. I don't even get tired of reading them because it makes me happy knowing that other people are also able to quit their addictions.

And even the sad and tragic stories, those also teach us a lesson. It teaches us to be grateful that we're alive and still breathing. It makes us thankful for the family we have that other people don't have. It makes us see each day as a blessing, despite the difficulties and hardships. In a way, it's still motivational because we want to show the world, that we won't end up like them.

It's also very brave and courageous for people to share their stories. It's not a requirement for them, but they do so to help others who might need some motivation and inspiration!

That's a really beautiful quote and one I, and many people, can relate to. We're all wounded healers. We can use our wounds to heal others. There's no use wallowing in misery. Since we know all too well the pain others are going through, why don't we transform ourselves by being kind and understanding them instead?

It is so true; one person's story helps another to be great in life. Consciously or unconsciously, we have people we admire, we mentor that is because of their story.

It is always good to share one's story, you never know whose life you are touching.

That is why it's so important to make an effort, not only we are changing our life for the better, but we are also being an inspiration to others.

Absolutely, a story can inspire other people to do their very best and not give up. My brother is a living example of that, being an alcoholic for most of his life, a drug abuser, AND an ex-con... and now he gives motivational speeches to Alcoholics Anonymous groups throughout the state of Michigan. Everyone loves him and looks up to him and would break off their right arms to help if he needed it. His story inspires them to unimaginable proportions.

Yes. That is so true. When one shares their stories, the ups and downs that they've experienced, it makes me think that no matter what problems we encounter, we can survive them. There is always hope.

Yeah. I did not thank you enough for this post while rambling about all the philosophical aspects of that amazing quote. Thank you for starting this thread. :)

    I like this quote, too:

"When we find the courage to share our experiences and the compassion to hear others tell their stories, we force shame out of hiding and end the silence." --Brené Brown

I agree with this completely. A big part of the small amount of things that I have done with fear in my life are inspired in a lot of people's story. And I think that's amazing that we are able to push ourselves to be brave and face things based on other people's histories. In my oppinion, that's one of the most beautiful things that we have as humans.

That is so true, each story can be a lesson or an inspiration to someone else, so feel free to share your personal story!

I think I've heard that quote somewhere in recovery circles before. It goes with the one about "If you've had a good day, you need a meeting. If you've had a bad day, you need a meeting. If it's just been a day, you need a meeting. Because you never know when someone else's story, or even part of it, will help you or when your story, or even part of it, will help someone else." Something like that. At any rate, that's helped me make the decision to continue making meetings or get back to them when other things came up.

Yeah, basically we need to stop to feel sorry about ourselves and to recognize our faults and what is destroying our life...

This quote is very true. When you're in a hard place and you think there's no coming back then all you really is someone leading the way. You need some inspiration, someone who has finished the journey, proof that it's even possible.
    Thanks for the great share.

Inspirational quotes may seem like a cliche these days but if perceived in a certain way by certain people, they can definitely change those people's outlook on life. I once read a quote that stated "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." It made me realize that you do not need everything in life and to live a simple life where you just have what you need and what you want, no luxurious, unnecessary and extravagant things, is a great, healthy and cost-effective way to live. It also made me speak to others differently, I said what I needed to and didn't say anything unnecessary or meaningless or offensive. Besides, people listen more to those who speak less.

With regards to drug abuse I think that quotes, as I stated in the beginning, can definitely give certain people a different perception of their situation and perhaps help them realize the path to change.

Good quotes are things that come from the heart, they are pieces of truth that can help us move forward.
