I sleep between 4-6hrs a day. It's been that way since I was in the Army. I know that "studies" have shown you need more sleep than that, but my body just does not like it when that happens. Almost all of my work is online, and I'm also the host/co-host of a few radio shows & podcasts, which involves a ton of promoting online. It's just the nature of my business. I'm also the oldest of 14, and live 3000 miles away from my family, so communication online is the only real way we talk.
That's surprising, I think I envy you in a way because I wish that some days were just longer, but the fact is that my body asks me 7-9 hours of sleep per day, no way around that.
Yeah, and I say do what you body asks of you. Mine just can't handle that much laying down and sleeping. I don't think either way is "wrong", it's just what different bodies require, and habits as well.
Yep, that's a fact, some people just require to sleep less. I've been hoping that with age that starts happening to me too, but so far nothing lol.
When it comes to internet, people used the word addiction very freely, in my view. When the internet was new it was "email addiction", and then eBay was considered an addiction, and social media made "Facebook addicts". There are people that can't help but look up WebMD for every little symptom. I think the internet consumes a lot of our time (look at me now), but I feel most aren't addicted to it in the real sense of the word.
That is the thing primal, we do not consider ourselves addicted, but at the same time it consumes a lot of our resources and conditions all our life...
It's definitely possible. Let's not forget that addiction is largely a mental issue so having physical substances aren't always necessary to cause addiction. The person who gets addicted to the internet probably already has an addictive personality to begin with, and honestly I think most of the people can understand what makes internet so addictive anyway.
I tend to agree that the world "addiction" is used very freely. While I do think it's possible, I think it's not nearly as common as people pretend it is. I think it's the same when you see people who say that they have "a touch of OCD" or that their OCD is "acting up". The truth is, they're looking for something to blame it on, or looking to get some attention. This isn't to take away from those with real addiction, but in this day and age people throw words and phrases around like they don't have real meaning.
I believe that the internet addiction is something that it's not very considered because most people don't see it as something dangerous. In many cases it's just a work tool.
It's the electro magnetic frequencies that surround you when one uses wifi or being close to a device that emits it. Cellphones are this way to. People just sit there staring at it. They have to have it near them all the time.
It could be on a certain site only but it could be in a lot of things one can do online. It is like being addicted on online searching, gaming, reading, watching, chatting and working. So it can be also termed as general as addicted to the internet.
I think people often become addicted to both the internet and computers in general, I can surely say I suffer from internet addiction... I'm not addicted to a site in particular, but I can assure you that one week with no internet would be something really hard for me! I can't imagine my life without the internet and my computer. I actually have no idea how I could live all those years without using a computer and the internet... Could I live without the TV? Yes, definitely. Could I live without my phone? Yes, of course. Could I live without my computer and the internet? NO FREAKING WAY.
I definitely think internet addiction is one of the issues that we're facing these days as a society - and because the internet is so widely used for work, for social interactions and so forth, it can sometimes be difficult to see when you've crossed the line from 'normal' consumption to overdoing it. I think like anything though, internet addiction is often just a mask for other things - social anxiety, loneliness, obsessive compulsive behaviors (that idea of checking, re-checking and so forth)...so I think that ties in a lot.
People can become addicted to the internet. The two most common internet addictions are social media and pornography. A lot of people have to limit there time on the internet to avoid becoming addicted. I use the net to gain information and network. Being more productive with the internet isn't really a bad thing, but like very thing moderation is the key.
Nowadays lets face the fact that most people young and adult are hooked into the internet googling and searching different sites and social medias not only for fun but for some information too. And to think that their time and life revolved to this kind of online communication that they cannot stay away from this anymore. That is why I think in some ways this can be addictive to most of us who are regularly and seriously doing this kind of thing.
I'm definitely addicted to the internet. My router is switched on most of the day and I'm always downloading or streaming video or music. I also love reading the news and visiting forums and just can't keep away. Fortunately, I also have freelance and contract work thanks to internet so it's not all bad.
