From what I have been told throughout my whole life, heroin is the most deadly drug out there. Even more so than cocaine or meth. Is that true?

I'd say it probably depends on how it's used, it's a lot easier to O.D. when injecting than smoking, snorting or even poping. Injecting street drugs is very dangerous, even if a person is medically trained and uses a clean needle, they still don't know exactly how strong it is. Accidental overdoses happen a lot. I believe herion is the most deadly.

I had one of my son's friends over this weekend he actually came over with my son. He had drug charges brought up against him. My son was drinking, and I was preaching about it being no better then street drugs. We got on that subject, and this fellow started talking about how heroin could kill as person in a minute. Especially if that person shoots it up in it's purest form. That is very scary to think about I just hate any kind of drugs.

According to elitedaily.com, Heroin is the 3rd most deadly drug. "It is a derivative of opium and is the most dangerous drug responsible of thousands of deaths every year. The tolerance to this drug develops very fast and so the body demands more and more intake of this drug. The fatal side effects include shortness of breath, seizures, disorientation, abnormal behavior, cycles of knock outs and even the whole brain stops functioning at times leading to sudden death."

Heroin is incredibly addicting, and users tend to use it in dangerous situations. Just this past year, I had a co-worker overdose at work while he was running the grill. He was shooting up around little kids, it was incredibly sad.
The place I was working in had tons of recovering addicts (including this guy) and several of them had other serious issues like thieving. Man, it was a weird experience in that restaurant. It really seems to do a number on your overall morals. People kept warning me about having nothing to do with the girls who did heroin because they were totally mind-f'd.

Yeah, I have heard of heroin overdoses far more often than any other kind of overdose. Just out of curiosity, what does that website list as the most deadly?

Used in the wrong manner heroin might well be the most lethal drug. There have been cases of instant death as a result of heroin overdose. Better to be careful with it.

That is so scary I would run like a wild horse if I ever got around heroin. I mean it can drop a person that fast. I mean why would a person want to take that chance? I just wonder how a person even comes to know a drug like this? I'm sure it's got to be harder to get then say crack or meth.

All of these drugs are deadly. Overdosing on any hard drug can kill you.
I'm not even sure how you would compare which one is "deadlier."
It's not even the drugs that kill a lot of the times. It's the high risk lifestyle and things that addicts and users have to deal with that kills. Whether it's crime to get drugs money, or sharing needles and other disease carrying things, dealing with drug dealers and other types of dangerous people to poor health and hygiene choices ect ect
The drug lifestyle is very deadly.

Well, obviously. You can die in a car accident in any car, but some cars are faster than others, which can make them easier to crash in. I think what sets heroin apart is how easy it is to overdose on in comparison to other drugs. That doesn't mean that it's the only deadly drug. It's just the fastest car, if you get my meaning.

    Oh!
Okay that does make sense, I really like how you illustrated it.

I don't think it's deadlier than meth, or maybe it is just as deadly. Both of them are horrible, but in my opinion what makes meth deadlier is the fact that one will never be themselves ever again. There are lots of people who recovered from heroin, but you almost never hear of anyone recovering from meth. It's pretty sad.

I believe that heroin is the most deadly drug because it is the most addictive, so that makes it the most difficult to recover from. Some of the things that can happen when you are a heroin addict are that you may develop collapsed veins, infection of the heart lining and valves, abscesses, and liver or kidney disease. Pulmonary complications, including various types of pneumonia can happen from heroin’s depressing effects on respiration.

I think it's deadly in that users don't always know what they are getting. Some of it is so pure and can kill in an instant. My son has overdosed and stopped breathing a couple of times and it is only down to the expertise of the paramedics who revived him that he is still here. He has also made himself very ill through 'dirty hits' where the heroin is mixed with various other products.

I think I heard somewhere that once an addict stops using his organs return to normal and there is no permanent damage although I am not sure how much truth there is in this. Can this be true?

If you mean deadly in terms of how much the decision to start heroin can affect a person's life then yes. I've known people who put that needle in their arm and 3 months later look like skeletons. I've known people do some things I'm not going to mention here, while on heroin. It kills the person inside of us first. It murders the soul of man. All drugs have negative effects on users but heroin is the only one I've ever seen that changes a person so much that you can look upon a friend and they just aren't there. I don't have figures on how many heroin actually kills, as in dead, but as far as stealing souls, no other drug compares.

What I believe is that heroin is one of the most addictive drugs and for this is very dangerous. Besides, you have to inject it and that adds even more to this claim. People who do heroin have the risk of contracting HIV, skin and blood infections and overdosing besides all the other problems it causes to your health. It’s just too much. In my opinion heroin is probably the most difficult drug to quit and that is pretty scary.

I agree that it's one of the most addictive. Any illegal drug can be deadly, just depends on the circumstances. Heroine right now is very deadly because it's basically become the new pot for wealthy suburban high schoolers. They have no idea what they are messing around with and easily overdosing on it.

LoveEcho is right. accidental overdoses happen a lot with heroin injection, because the addicts can't possibly know how strong the drug that they just bought is, unless they have bought it in bulk, which is unlikely.

That is why it is often considered the most dangerous drug. It is extremely easy to overdose on. It's hard to know how much you need/how much to get.

I would say that the only drugs that are even rivaling heroin is meth and crocodile, which is a drug that is primarily in the Russian area of the world.
