I'm curious to knowing if Marijuana is bad for you. I saw facts showing that mariuana has a higher tar input than Cigarettes and I know a lot of people smoke Marijuana. I'm not thinking of doing Marijuana but fascinated in knowing if there's any consequences. Title edit : I meant to say bad
Well, Marijuana is technically not bad for your body but it's an addiction. The problem here is that once you start smoking weed you won't be able to stop too easily, and becoming an addict can really make your life a living hell. Proceed with caution.
I'm not sure how to feel about weed, personally. I smoked it for a number of years and it really messed with my depression and PTSD. But then they legalized it here in Colorado, and I've heard the stuff you can get in some of the better shops is pretty far removed from the crappy, cheap weed I had access to when I was a kid. I'm pretty sure developing a daily smoking habit would seriously kill your lungs. I was smoking every day for years and I'd cough like crazy, especially in the morning. And I was a young guy, still am; I was also smoking cigarettes at the time, so it's entirely possible I was just smoking way, way too much. There are always edibles, of course. If it's legal in your area and you don't have any mental problems, maybe it's okay to do, but I'd just as soon stay away from it if I can.
Marijuana is NOT bad for your body. It actually helps keep cancer cells from forming, progessing, or popping up reguardless. The websites that say marijuana has a higher input level of tar than cigarettes is total bullshit. If it were that bad for you, they definitely would not be leagalizing it in many states right now. We live in a generation where people think that marijuana is bad, but in all actuality it is good for you and serves many purposes. It grows from the ground for Pete's sake! Make sure whenever you look things up about weed, it is somewhere that is very credible. For instance, if you want to learn more, go to hightimes.com !
I don't have any ailments that would require Marijuana, so I would have to say that isn't made for me. Now if I had glaucoma or several other ailment that Marijuana has been known to treat, then I would say yes. In my opinion Marijuana is bad if you are using it for the purpose of getting high and not for health treatments.
Based on the variety of replies to this thread I have to say that is a good question! First off I’d like to mention that I am not medically qualified to answer but based on experience I can tell you marijuana definitely did more harm than good to me. I started smoking weed mainly by curiosity and because everyone around me was smoking it. At first it was pleasant, occasionally getting high with my friends and eventually became the normal thing to do when we would meet up. Long story short I had an incredible “bad trip” one day that plunged me into a panic - definitely not a good experience. I wasn’t naïve though, and I was cautioned that “bad trips” could occur. However, the feeling of dying I experienced during my bad trip would occasionally arise when I wasn’t high. I was generally more anxious and these panic attacks would occur more frequently. I eventually stopped smoking and after numerous months started noticing that the anxiety I was living, faded. Some people smoke marijuana on the daily and barely have negative effects, others like me don’t. My doctor told me that I had a pre-disposition to panic attacks and that marijuana triggered it. I’m not saying I wouldn’t of had panic attacks if I never smoked, but weed definitely precipitated it.
Smoke in any form isn't healthy to inhale, so the smoking aspect of marijuana is definitely bad for you. For a lot of people, marijuana can be "bad" for their lives because of the other complications it can bring up. It makes a lot of people lazy, gain weight and spend less time on their other passions. I saw it happen to a lot of my childhood friends; they smoked throughout high school and were able to be successful, but as adulthood creeped in they fell behind because they didn't have the motivation to do what was needed to continue to succeed. It's probably pretty rare for someone to be able to maintain smoking marijuana and a healthy, balanced life.
Marijuana is actually not bad for people. What makes it bad is because of the reason that some people would abuse them, and we know that anything that is too much could lead to something dangerous. There is medical marijuana which I am totally in favor of. Plus, marijuana could also be a good ingredient for cooking. It really has a lot of benefits to people.
Well everyone here says it's not bad for you and I couldn't disagree but do you really want to get into this, the very least side effect would a huge loss of time which could be spent on productivity... personally weed have had brought both good and bad for me, the good things it brought to me I'm not really sure but I guess a more calm and confident personality could be one of them, the bad ones are the dependence and anxiety sometimes.
In here, marijuana is illegal so, it is believed and known to be bad for you. I do agree that the addiction on it what makes it really bad and not just the substance alone. If proven have medicinal benefits, it will be okay to be in use for such purpose.
Marihuana is not that bad as other drugs, is not that addictive and it doesn't affects your health that fast as other drugs do, and we've all heard about how marihuana can be used for medical purposes. But I don't think that is such a good idea to smoke a lot of it, I'm not really sure how but I've heard that it messes up with your brain, it's always better to be safe than sorry.
Anytime you breath in hot exhaust it;'s bad for your lungs. Doesn't matter if it's tobacco, pot or even pine needles. Smoking ANYTHING is not good for your lungs.
I couldn't agree with you more @JonnyMacdonald. It is good to be careful of what one feeds their lungs
Even though I would agree that it's not a harmful as cigarettes, marijuana probably harms your lungs. You're inhaling smoke, and no matter how pure it may be, it still can have a negative effect on your body. I feel like there are better ways to ingest marijuana, like for example edibles or different things that don't harm your body at all.
Any inhalant containing chemicals alien to our natural body constitution is bad for health. Having said that with degree of pollution prevalent in urban areas of our planet we are exposed to these hazards against our wishes. So any willful augmentation of toxins in our body is matter of one's personal choice for sake of pleasures or feelings which we want to experience. Marijuana may be a lesser evil than tobacco or stronger habit forming chemicals. I have seen my friends, over past four decades, using it and quitting but are unable to quit tobacco.
This is the truth. Now, will marijuana do less to you than something like tobacco? The studies are out there. It's up for you to decide.
I'm really surprised at some of these responses. I never knew marijuana could have any positive use. Bad or not, as long as its addictive, you should stay away. It could restructure your life and you won't like the result, believe me. If you have an ailment that requires using it, then go ahead, but otherwise, stay away.
Researchers agree that marijuana can be used to treat a number of issues. Though it might be used thusly just as with other drugs, it also has some negative effects which you wouldn't want. Anyone who doesn't have an ailment which marijuana can treat shouldn't be using it.
I think that's a hard question to answer and you will get a different opinion, depending on who you listen to. Me personally, I don't think it's as harmfull for you as other drugs that are around, but heavy use over a sustained period of time, is going to affect the lungs, and depending on the individual taking it, it can maybe also cause other problems.
I have a personal conviction that many of these herbs and plants are vital to solving many up the health issues that we have however, it really has to do with how we use them. Many of the Times we find that we abuse the use of marijuana. It doesn't have medical purposes, but for smoking, I'm not sure.
