I've heard of many great success stories about people using Kratom to quit Opiates. I'm not saying it's the way, but it is a way.

Better to substitute it with a hobby rather than a different drug. If you are physically addicted to a drug, a replacement drug is not going to help. And that leaves emotional/psychological addiction, which means there is no reason a softer drug will help any more than any other type of replacement ( ie, hobby).

I definitely would not encourage the use of an alternative drug to stop the use of one already being abused. Most people get addicted to more than just one drug. At least this method should not be tried on your own. If you check into an inpatient rehab program, they may use other medications to help you get through the detox process, but this is strictly under the care of a doctor to help your body. It is not the same thing as using a less harmful drug to get your elated feelings while you get off another drug.
