Hopefully each and every success builds on each other. Sobriety can become a habit I think like any other positive habit. It can be something that motivates you and helps you to achieve the life you were born to live. Sobriety is one of the things you can strive for in life and that makes a difference in your life.

Motivation is key when your fighting an addiction, because it's all to easy to slip back into your old ways. That's one of the side effects of drug abuse, you tend to think about the past and dwell on things that have happened, making it seems twice as bad as what it actually was.

Beating an addiction is all about looking forward to the future and not dwelling on what's been and gone. Your motivation should come from the fact your heading towards a new start and a better life.

Enthusiasm for battling an addiction most obviously will flag and you must be prepared for that. Another good way to keep yourself motivated all the time is reading inspirational stories. They don't have to be drug-related. All inspirational stories have one thing in common — they give you hope. And it's that hope that you too, can win that will keep you fighting until you WIN.

It is true that one has to stay motivated. But, how can one stay motivated? You need to observe yourself and try to discover your object of motivation. Once you have that, you will have something to cling to.

You'll find this applies not only to addiction but to any struggle in life! You have to look at those you love, and find beauty in the world and in your life to push onward!

When you first decide to quit, you'll usually have a reason to. Goals in life that you'll only be able to accomplish if you stay away from that specific substance, and keeping a clear mental picture of them will be a big help in motivation.

Even when times are at their hardest, knowing and being able to visualise what your aiming for is a big help.
