I find this somewhat comical to even ask this question as there is no evidence concluding that one can overdose from marijuana but with the new methods of using it such as dabbing, wax, oils, vape etc, I wonder since the potency is higher that it can actually cause an overdose. I myself do not believe that anyone can really overdose and die from it but anything is possible. Does anyone have any information about the possibility or not of this?
There are very few cases of fatal overdose due to cannabis consumption, but there are physiological abnormalities associated with taking too much. Like you say , now that we have stronger and more condensed forms of THC, this might all change in the future.
There might be several cases as @dajon says but I do not find it senseful enough, however it must be a big overdose in order to cause death on a single person, maybe 1 kilo of weed in one day orsomething like that, however I find it kinda meaningless since I have not heard of many cases, that is my opinion though.
I've never heard of anyone overdosing on marijuana. I have a lot of friends who have been smoking it for years, and not one among them has overdosed. If anything, they even look healthy (compared to my friends who are alcoholics). But I think that overdosing is possible especially with dabs because it's highly concentrated.
There's a very little chance this could happen. There are ways to take it in really high doses now days. I heard that the marijuana lolly pops have as much thc in them as 6 joints or maybe more. I think you could OD on it but only in amounts that nobody would even take any way because it would be unrealistic. Here's a article about this (http://www.leafscience.com/2014/08/26/can-you-overdose-on-marijuana)
As others explained, technically one could OD from too much marijuana. Realistically, this is the least probable cause of dying from consuming cannabis. It is physically impossible to consume a quantity that big. You would probably fall asleep in the meanwhile. However, as weed becomes more and more 'sophisticated', this risk might raise in the near/distant future.
I also know that there aren't any deaths related to marijuana over-dose, anyway there seem to be a death related to marijuana, as a person once got crushed by a huge marijuana bale which was weighing about 1000kg. Anyway, from my medical knowledge, a person would simply fall asleep from too much marijuana, that being its ultimate effect.
One can't overdose on marijuana if they are smoking a joint but it's possible to overdose if one is consuming THC edibles. But whether an OD would cause death is debatable. It's likely though that someone who has overdosed on pot could do something stupid that will kill them. I do believe overdosing on marijuana can [indirectly] be life threatening.
You can't overdose from marijuana. It is just physically impossible. People should stop spreading misconceptions about marijuana, and this is coming from someone who has never even used drugs in my life. All I care about is useful and accurate information about the dangers of life - not one of which involve overdosing from weed.
There is absolutely no realistic way that you can overdose on Marijuana. The only way to die from it as far as smoking it is to smoke 1,500 joints within 15 minutes and you wouldn't die from THC, you would end up dying from smoke inhalation. That's not to say that there isn't a problem with all of the massive THC content in the new edibles and how everyone is treating Marijuana like it's harmless because it is not. THC can really do a number on your brain if you aren't expecting it and with these new edibles including tons of THC content, it opens up a horrible experience for people who are experiencing Marijuana for the first time or people who are tricked into eating it, not knowing what it is. High doses of THC can cause panic attacks which in turn can cause someone to harm themselves. People think that it's a funny situation to trick someone into eating a THC edible but it can really damage their psyche and make them feel like they are in an extremely unsafe place. This is one of the biggest issues that should be tackled by anyone who works with a dispensary or prescribes medical Marijuana in my opinion.
Too much of anything is bad for you and I wouldn't think that an overdose in marijuana would cause death. Yes it would cause problems such as extreme hallucinations and dizziness to the most extreme depending on how much you have inhaled, but at most it would probably damage your lungs instead of killing you entirely.
