I haven't seen this drug mentioned anywhere on these forums anywhere and I definitely think it's worth mentioning. Mephedrone, known on the streets as M-CAT or Meow Meow, is a drug that has become extremely popular in the UK. When it first became popular it was legal and was a substance used in plant fertilizer. M-CAT is usually snorted, although it can also be consumed orally and, according to police reports, people have started resorting to what they call the 'crocodil' technique (taken from 'krokodil') - by mixing Mephedrone with petrol in order to allow for injecting, which is known to cause necrosis. Only very few users in the UK have injected M-CAT, most choose to snort it instead and the drug became popular because it showed no signs of neurotoxicity. Despite that fact, some heavy users of Mephedrone have experienced delusions, hallucinations and psychotic episodes.
Those facts sure are interesting. That also reminded me of one Bristol woman who was a school teacher that ended up being found dead on the street after taking a mixture of Mephedrone and Cocaine. Others have also experienced heart pulpitations and respiratory problems. I think the side effects of this drug are only just starting to become uncovered.
It baffles me why such extremely harmful substances are being sought after for temporary high, and for close attachment with them? Will it help to say to our friends who resort to cracks and meths "you are loved and we do care" ? When things go wrong-- when you feel you are heading downward spiral: please keep in mind that there are friends and loved ones who do care. There is Almighty God who cares for you and wants to give you healing, life of strength to fulfill your dreams and real happiness. He also wants to help you in your most timely need for help.
I'd like to know who the first person to try it was? And what about the first person to mix it with petrol? Suicidal maybe? Just happened to get really high instead of dead???
In New Zealand, where I live there have been reports of youths, young as 8 even trying things similar to this and it is the environment in where they live, which causes this and broken families sometime and am surprised how they turn to this to hide feelings of hurt or sadness. When a person seeks to hide their problems using drugs they end up having more, and what they thought will help, them actually ends up hurting them and causing suffering for the ones around them which is sad when this happens. When a young person or anyone has problems they should talk, about it and try and face it and dong it with others will be much easier than facing it along sometimes.
I've never heard of this before. Is mostly only in UK? I've not seen any reports about it in the here in the US.
