My 27 year old son is currently incarcerated, he has alienated family n friends who care...I am his mother and want what's best for him, I haven't always been the best role model, having abused alcohol and drugs myself, I have since changed my circumstances, was hoping he would follow suit....I'm thank full he's in jail, the alternatives are much worse...any advice you can offer is greatly appreciated.
@Free2beme... Welcome to the community and thank you for sharing. I'm sorry to hear about your son's struggles. Can you give us a little more information about his addiction? What drug or drugs does he use? How long has he been using? Although jail isn't the world's best place to be, it may be helpful to your son to be there for a bit. Ideally, when he gets out, it would be great for him to get some treatment for his addiction--either residential rehab or intensive outpatient treatment (IOP). Would he be willing to do that? I will keep you and your son in my thoughts and prayers. The best thing you can do right now is take care of YOU. And if your son wants to get help for his addiction, you can be supportive. We're here to help and support you however we can. Reach out anytime.
