@alexstrange Welcome to the site and i believe the reason you ended up in here is similar to the rest of us,you most likely feel like you are alone trapped by your addiction but i assure you that you are not alone.I congratulate you in admitting you have an addiction that is the first step in recovery now that you have admitted it you can start to take the necessary steps to overcome it.So i to had a very bad problem with pill's,what are you taking and how many mg's?I was taking 4- 80 mg Oxycontin a day and i have beat that addiction,it wasn't easy and it got to the point it nearly cost me my life...several time's.This site has so many people who truly care and have great advice on where to turn. Are you buying your pill's or getting them from a DrYHow long have you been using pill's?There is great support at NA meetings in the beginning i didn't like that idea myself but i decided to go check it out and i'm glad i did as the support they provide is priceless. You can beat this addiction you just have to really want it.Addiction only want's everything you have and by reaching out you have taken something from addiction and shown you have the strength and courage to defeat it.Stay Strong and God Bless Take Care

@alexstrange glad your'e here...... and glad you want to stop using drugs... you may have to reach out for professional help if you can't do it on your own. no shame in that.

start educating yourself on addiction...and of course, share here anytime. surrounding yourself with some supportive people can help too, and maybe even hitting a support group...

we are here to listen and share as you continue your journey.

Welcome to the community, @alexstrange. It's so great that you found us and reached out. If you truly want to stop your addiction to pills, you can. You just have to commit to quitting and be willing to do the work necessary to achieve that goal.

@True concern has given you some excellent advice and insight. I, too, would be interested in knowing what kind of pills you're taking. Also, have you ever considered seeing an addiction specialist? They can assess your situation and recommend the best next steps for you. They can help you safely wean off of whatever it is you're taking, too. Just a thought.

We're here to help and support you however we can. You are not alone.

    Hey @alexstrange
I’m also pretty new here and it’s been super helpful for me. I hope you find the same relief here. Like True Concern said, NA can be scary at first, but those programs can really help a lot of people. I forced myself to go to AA for awhile after I quit drinking, and even though the program wasn’t for me in the end, it’s still my best quit so far (4 years). Now where I live there are no programs like that, they are at least a 4 hour drive. Now I kind of wish I could go to an NA meeting and see if it would help me with my other addictions. Anyways, we are here if you need us!

Hey @alexstrange, I'm glad you found us. When I came here I was just grasping at anything that I could that could possibly help me with the discomfort of withdrawals I was having. I had abused my prescription medication and ran out early. Not the first time but this last time was by far the worst.

The amount of support that I have gotten is by far the biggest thing that has aided me in staying clean, and now I have three months. That's a long time for me considering I'm 30 and have been using since I was 15.

I encourage you to stick with trying to get clean and come back and tell us a little about what's going on. I promise there is a world full of knowledge with all of the combined experiences on this site and you can benefit from talking about it with someone who has been there also. God bless.

If anyone is hesitant to go to AA or NA because of the 12-step format, you can always check out SMART Recovery. It's a 12-step alternative group that has helped tons of people get and stay clean. Their meetings aren't as prevalent as AA or NA, but they are growing. You can find out more about SMART Recovery at their website. (They also have online meetings.)

And FWIW, there are online AA and NA meetings, too. Sometimes those work for people who struggle with face-to-face interaction. You can find online AA and NA meetings on the In The Rooms website:

Hope this might help someone, too!

I think that's awesome! If you're worried about the crime rate in Mexico remember that if you are going to Mexico to attend rehab then you won't be involved in anything illegal. So if you stay away from the crime and just watch your back like on any normal day then you should have no worries. I pray it all works out for you friend. God bless.

I'm so happy to hear your in rehab, they gave you a job to do already?Well i guess if it work's.I have no idea what the purple pill may be but i am very happy your getting help

@alexstrange... I think you have every right to know exactly what that purple pill is. You're in rehab...not prison. I suggest asking the powers-that-be what the pill is. I know that sounds incredibly rudimentary, but it's all I've got for you.

I'm glad you're getting help and doing work. A routine is good for someone in early recovery.

Sending you positive, healing vibes, my friend. Keep us up to date on your progress. We're rooting for you.

Hey I'm glad you're in a rehab also. I do want to tell you from personal experience that you should make sure of what you're taking and the dose also. They have to tell you, you went there voluntarily right?
I have always had them print off a drug interactions list whenever I have been in a hospital or rehab center as proof that I was taking it.
Also you said the rush and neediness? I'm not sure really what you meen please elaborate for me.
I can't help but keep thinking about that purple pill. First off the only purple pill I've ever seen is viagra, I know that's not it. Second you said everyone is taking it. If everyone really is taking the same thing but I know nothing about it, I can guarantee that I would find out what that is. I wouldn't take any medication, even from a doctor that I was unsure of.
I hope this place works out well for you but you have me somewhat concerned that you have only been there for two days, and are already assigned a job and taking meds.
Then there's this you still have you're phone. Never been to any rehab where I had access to the outside world other than a call or to for at least a week or so. Is this a place with a good reputation?

Nexium (esomeprazole), a pill commonly prescribed to treat heartburn and acid reflux, is purple.

    I thought Viagra was blue.

I'm probably wrong then scratch that. Still have concerns about everyone taking the same medication and the doctor not explaining what this is. I dunno I just find this odd. I don't think that's paranoia talking either my doctor has always told me exactly what was what when I've been to rehab, I meen it was spelled out to me what was to be taken when and why. And I've never been to some expensive fancy rehab either. I'm broke, except for what's given to me and the odd job here and there.

I agree, @Josh111187. Even when you're in the hospital, they bring you your meds and tell you what exactly it is you're taking, even if you've taken the same thing for the last several days. It's very strange that everyone's taking the same pill. And, apparently, no one knows what it is. That's wack.

hello guys, thanks for all the support, well, it was a busy dayyesterday, and now its the start of a new day, as you guys told me & my instict forshadowed i started asking about the purple pill, its herbal pill, i think still think that it more of a placebo, but as mentioned everyone takes it.. so i confronted doctor conrado, he explained to me that this pill is herbal mixture used by ancient aztecs(he did tell me it was salvia or soemthing like that), he told me that in ancient times they used psycodellic drugs to get in contact with the gods, and that this mixtures help out in keeping them unhooked from drugs, i have accepted the pill (just to try it, its not obligtory), and it might be a placebo effect, because my mind and body crave the feeling and the neediness of a pill, but as of yestreday i feel ok... still i am going to research a little bit more..
