Some organizations go farther than just rehabilitating addicts. They get to the bottom of the root cause of their addictions and try to give support by connecting them to relevant people, institutions or providing tools for them to support themselves. Others have outreach programs where successfully recovered addicts are trained and given support and materials for outreach to reach addicts in different. Do you know of any such groups?
Yes, it's pretty common. There are facilities all over the country that practice this. I think it's a really good model. http://www.opiny.org/outreach-treatment/outpatient-substance-abuse-services
I know that here in Britain some agencies will offer a type of psychotherapy for repeat or seriously addicted patients. Not sure of the statistical outcomes, but I imagine it's a pretty effective way of getting some users out of their cycle of dependence.
