Although I have known many people and still know a few who use heroin, I have only ever tried smoking it once myself. It was the one drug that I never got into when I was younger. I have only just noticed that many people who inject heroin also use citrus, along with filters - I was wondering why this is the case? Can anyone explain?
Although ive been on Heroin for about 8 years now, ive only ever smoked it. I know virtually nothing about cooking it up or how its done. And to be honest, I'm glad. Never heard of citrus being used either. I thought it was heated up on a spoon and mixed with water to put in the syringe, not sure about the filters. If there are any pinners reading this, explain it to us? Just out of curiousity, not about to start doing now.
Apparently the heroin does not dissolve well in plain water and lemon juice is the best thing to use. I think the filter has something to do with removing bacteria and other particles from the heroin/lemon juice solution. I might be wrong though, I've never even smoked the stuff.
I thought it was just heated up on a spoon and that was it, seeing as it pretty much turns into an oily liquid substance anyway. I'm not looking for details of how to actually do it, I was just wondering what the reasons were. That makes sense. Heroin, when heated, turns into a thick oily substance which may very well be too thick to shift through the blood stream quickly or efficiently enough. Citric acid would probably help break it down a bit. I have heard that nearly all the Heroin on the streets of the UK is cut with brick dust, paracetomal and other dangerous substances. Perhaps the filters are used to filter out all the extra crap that comes with it.
Yeah, I wasn't aware of all the extra details involved until recently. I am familiar with how it's usually smoked on foil - otherwise known as chasing the dragon. I have also seen people smoke it in a rolled up cigarette on a few occasions.
I swear I learn something new on here every day. I'm scared to death of needles, and I'm 46 years old. I just don't see how people pump that stuff into their veins. As for citrus that has got to burn like crazy. I guess if it gets the person high they don't mind the pain.
Hopefully the citrus isn't being injected in amounts where the person can feel it, but who knows. I've know people on heroin, but they didn't use any citrus in the needle, as far as I know.
I once heard that most drugs usually aren't too addictive until they are injected, which is why addiction only became as much of a problem once needles were invented. It's just a theory told to me, however, and I have no historical or scientific knowledge to back it up but it does sound fairly sensible to me. I don't know much about using citrus with heroin, though.
Smoking and snorting can get you addicted just as quick, Charli. Take Cocaine as an example. There are a lot of people addicted to smoking crack Cocaine.
I guess the needle main lining as it's known. Gets the person where they want to be faster then other methods of ingesting the drug. It just makes be sad to think of young people. Don't these types of things. All in the name of getting high, and feeling good for a little while.
I believe that smoking crack cocaine is a lot more addictive than injecting heroin, if proper high purity crack is used. From personal experience, I already know that smoking crack cocaine is a lot more addictive than smoking heroin.
I got a habit the first time around by smoking it in spliffs. That was how me and my partner at the time was using it. Then we started to put more and more on the foil until I thought putting it in spliffs was a waste.
The only time I snorted it was once when I got arrested and sat in the cells all night. Lucky for me I had just scored and had a bag hidden in my bra. When I started to cluck there was no other way of getting it in me so I snorted some. Knocked my head off, would only use as a last measure.
I actually didn't think it could be smoked in this way until I saw my brother-in-law doing it. You would think that because it turns oily when heated it would cause too much damage to the cigarette papers and wouldn't burn properly. Obviously, I was wrong. You're talking about Heroin? I've never heard of anyone snorting it but I have heard that doing so can potentially be fatal and that it's not a good idea. I've heard it's more likely to cause an overdose by snorting it.
I have never used heroin myself, but I have been surrounded by heroin users for many years. I have seen them injecting it in their feet, neck, groin, and even in their eyes. As far as I know heroin is mostly sold in crystal form, and to dissolve it, users need an acidic solution such as lemon juice or vinegar. But these harsh solutions can make their veins collapse and cause infections as the lemon juice or vinegar might be contaminated with bacteria or fungi.
That's a useful bit of information. I actually made a post here recently after finding out that some Heroin users were using citrus and I didn't know why. I have since found out that some forms of Heroin need to be broken down before being injected, whereas some forms of Heroin don't.
