Hi everyone, I'm very new to this but i don't know where else to turn. I feel that I'm addicted to cocaine and its taking control of my life. Can someone give me advice or discuss further? Please help, thanks!

@pierre87... Welcome to the community and thanks for sharing with us. I'm sorry that you're struggling with cocaine, but I'm glad you reached out. That shows me that you are interested in making some positive changes in your life.

If you think you're addicted to coke, the best thing for you to do might be to find an addiction specialist in your area and make an appointment with them. They can assess your specific situation and recommend the best next steps for you.

You can also seek out 12-step support meetings like NA (Narcotics Anonymous) or CA (Cocaine Anonymous). If 12-step meetings aren't your thing, there is also SMART Recovery, which is a 12-step alternative program. Being around other people who know exactly what you're going through and feeling can be super helpful and comforting.

I would also suggest you educate yourself about addiction. Read books, read information online, watch YouTube videos, etc. Knowledge is power, and the more you know about the disease of addiction the more you will understand how to attack it. (One really great book is called Clean: Overcoming Addiction and Ending America's Greatest Tragedy, by David Sheff. I highly recommend it.)

We are here to help and support you however we can, my friend. So feel free to reach out to us anytime, whether you're looking for advice or just need to vent. We will listen to you without judgment. In the meantime, I'm sending you positive, clean and sober vibes. And lots of hope and encouragement. You can change your life. I know you can. You just have to make the decision to do it and be willing to work hard at it.

Thanks so much @deanokat this means so fucking much. I never thought i would get to this point in my life. I have always been strong in bad situations but this one is killing me. **** man, I'm doing coke right now...WTF??, its so bad. Thanks for messaging me, and I'm glad i can let off steam here. I really dont know what to do, I'm letting so many people down as well as myself. I dont know where this addiction comes from, i have never been addicted to anything! I tell myself i dont need to do it, but then i got and fucking do it, and its having a serious financial effect as well as ruining my career. Once again, thanks @deanokat , means a lot!

My pleasure, @pierre87. Just remember: You are not a bad person. You are a sick person. You have a disease called addiction. You are not alone. There are millions and millions of people who have the same disease. If people think you're letting them down, then they don't understand the disease. As far as yourself goes, maybe commit to at least cutting down on your use, just to start. Cutting down would be progress; and finding recovery is about progress, not perfection. I always tell people: Even baby steps will eventually get you to where you want to go.

Cut yourself a little slack. Love yourself. Commit to cutting down. If you can do that, then see about taking another step in the right direction, no matter how small. You don't have to go from 60 to 0 all at once. Whatever works for you, brother.

Get that book I recommended and read it. In fact, I have extra copies of it here at home (the author gave them to me to share with people who could use it). If you private message me your address, I'll send you a charge.
