I was in a car accident 1 year and 1 month ago in which I broke my back. I have 2 rods and 6 screws in my back now. I didn't have health insurance and found myself using heroin to cover the pain. I stopped using about 2 weeks ago but the pain is so bad I can barely take care of my 1.5 year old son. My doc referred me to pain management but I'm afraid to go. Will the pain die down after another week or 2 or should I consider pain management? I feel even more useless than when I was snorting heroin, I just want to be able to work and take care of my son.... Thanks
@TheAndyThompaon... Welcome and thanks for sharing. Was your doctor referring you to pain management for the pain from heroin withdrawal? Or for the pain from your injury? Withdrawal from heroin is different with everyone, but I'm thinking your pain (from withdrawal) should be subsiding soon. But if the pain continues, or if it gets unbearable, definitely go and see a doctor. An addiction specialist would probably be a good person to see. I'm sending you positive, healing vibes. Reach out if you again if you need anything.
