    Hi friends,
what are your favourite songs to listen to about sobriety/addiction? A few have come up in the forum the last week or so, so I’m curious what others think!

I just found this song called Starting Over by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and I started to bawl my eyes out. Of course I relate to this song strongly because it’s about relapsing after 3 years, and I relapsed with cocaine this Spring after 4 years. It’s nice to have a healthy cry sometimes!

"Starting Over" is a great song, @lonewolves. One of my favorites is "Stop" by Ryan Adams. Video below. (I also posted the lyrics to the song under the video.)

    "Stop"

    I know a sickness
    So ancient and cross
    No crucifix
    Could ever fix enough
In the basement of a church
    These people, they talk
    There is a line
    That must be walked
If you wanna make it stop
    Then stop

    I know a place
    Where the future is denied
    I know a hand
    That twitches inside
For some of us the glass
    Is filled with lights
    But if the honey
    Makes you sick
    Honey, there is a line
    That must be walked
If you wanna make it stop
    Then stop
    Stop

    Slow down
    You don't have to talk
    Lie down
    Breathe
    Stop
    Slow down
    It's not your fault
    Look around
    There's so many of us
    So many of us
    You are not alone
    Ever
    Ever
    Ever

    Stop

Call in the backup and the backup comes
Nobody can help you if you won't
Inside your chest your heart is just hurt
Behind your eyes a need replaced a want

I know a sickness so ancient and cross
A crucifix can never fix enough
I know a past when the future is lost
I know a line that must be walked

There is a darkness and there is a light
    And there is a choice.
For a balance to be made every night
    A weakness must be found
If you want it to stop
    Stop
    Stop

I’m the type who can remember every lyric from songs I listened to 20 years ago, but can’t remember what I walked into a room for, @True concern.

I do the same often time's it takes me 3-4 trip's to the kitchen to get something to drink, all it takes is one person to say one word and Poof I forgot what I was going in for.As far as music.I can listen to a song a thousand times and I know I like it by the background music but can't remember the name of the song..EVER but once it start's I remember the words...as soon as it's over..I couldn't tell you. Although I can memorize about 100 license plates after seeing them once and what car they belong to.I guess I should learn computer coding with that ability but until now I couldn't figure out how that could be useful
