I can understand why you might think it might be corny in a world where the belief of an Almighty God is constantly under attack. That said, I think it's important to get your day off to a right start. It often determines how the day will end and so I am reminded to pray as soon as I get up.

I do believe in God and communicate with my God during different times of the day. At the same time I encourage all to do whatever works best for them.

You have to take inventory of all the good in your life otherwise you will focus on all the negativity and hardships you face each day. Life isn't easy, but if you take a minute to take stock in all the blessings you have it makes each day a little easier.

Its a big lonely world out there, but you have to remember that you are not alone. Best of luck to all of you!

The feeling of loneliness can and will rip you apart if you let it. Everyone needs to realize that there are people who care about you and want your well-being. No one is truly alone.

I agree. It always is a good thing to start the day by being grateful for all the blessings that you have, it makes you more appreciative of the little blessings that you have and usually take for granted. I do that as well when I remember to do so.

Everyone's got their own way of generating the required motivation that helps you push through the day. It doesn't have to be God or any entity for that matter. You could draw inspiration from stories, videos or people and achieve the same results as those who relied on prayers to charge their batteries in the beginning of the day. Piety, however, can be really beneficial if you strongly believe that praying can and will make a change. I am glad to see people that make the best of their religious habits, even though I'm not the most religious person myself.

There are many things to do to recover from drug abuse. One thing is to start the right like doing simple things that
can help shift your mind and focus on other things. First thing to do is exercise. There are many forms of exercise you can do and one thing is jogging. Jogging helps eliminates and detoxify toxins in your body and keep you going throughout the day.

One of the best ways to increase your good and get what you want is to be grateful for what you do have and not complain about what you don't have. What you spend all of your thought energy on is what you will bring into your life. So if you think good things you get good things, no hate or lack allowed. Say out loud what you are grateful for.

I'm not religious and I never have been, but I think this is something that has really helped my mother who is religious. I personally have a more difficult time at night so when I try to go to bed I sit and I think about why I shouldn't be upset and I am able to sleep a little bit better. In the mornings just forcing yourself to get up can really help.

Getting up early is so important i think. Early to bed early to rise sort of thing is what i would believe in.
Ive started running first thing in the morning, even going for a walk. It really clears my head.
I think its so important to keep clear

I know a few people that are constantly thanking god for another day. I don't. I'm not a religious person. But for those that do they do seem to have inspiration in him. Waking up everyday is a good day and something to be thankful for.

I think you made a valid point. I just need to get to bed at a respectable hour so I can rise early. It makes all the difference in the world. I think it was Benjamin Franklyn who said, ' early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise". I believe he was right.

However the day starts, I cannot do a great deal until I've had my coffee and shower. If I don't get to have either of these, the rest of the day feels really off-balance, so I suppose that's my way of starting the day right.

Yep, mentality has everything to do with avoiding relapse, maintaining a positive attitude is absolutely essential, but it can be very counter-intuitive. Its something you just dont want to do to begin with. You have to push through to the other side. I find that exercise can really help with this, as raising the levels of your physical activity essentially transfers over to your mind. Once your body is working harder, your mind catches up and can work harder towards feeling happy! :)

OP has a point here indeed, my feelings about God are mixed, but in the morning, the first thing I do, is just thank to the Universe and to myself for everything I have and everything I don't have, because I know all that added together it made me to get to this point of my life.

I know I feel worse when I wake up thinking to myself “Oh great, another day to slog through” so it’s much, much better to start the day off with gratitude. It helps cultivate a mindset of abundance, which can be key to staying away from negative influences.

I know a few that have turned to go d and church as their sources of inspiration to become clean. You've got inspiration and a supprt group all in one. Nothing wrong with thanking god for another day.

All of us had our own beliefs and we should respect each other point of views. But for me everyday as soon as I wake up I always pray thanking God for having a good sleep last night and for giving me another day to live to do all my responsibilities and work for the day. I always feel motivated if I start my day communicating with God through this simple prayers which is my inspiration everyday in my life and it always makes me feel good.

That sounds like a great way to start the day, actually I have read that those who practice gratitude on a daily basis lead happier lives. I actually need to start doing the same! My life is not going in the direction I wanted or expected, to be honest I'm going thru a very tough patch that might lead to one of the darkest times in my life (we will see in a couple days).

Still, I feel I need to be grateful for what I have, rather than being bitchy and complain for what I don't. I mean, at least I'm not living in the streets (I lived in the streets when I was an addict), so yes, I know how hard life can be when you have no roof over your head... I know what sleeping on the floor during a very cold night feels like, I know what hunger and thirst feel like as well...

So if I come to think about it... yes, I've so much to be grateful for!

Wow @bombshell, that's so sweet. I should do that too. I'm grateful for the things I have in my life and every good day starts with listening reggae in the morning, eating nice healthy breakfast and stretching out. I think we would really appreciate the things we have in life when they're on the line, at the risk of loss. That's what saddens me :(
