    Hey guys,
New here. Great forum with lots of valuable information.
So here's my story. After a shoulder surgery that lead to an oxycodone addiction I ended up starting on suboxone to end my addiction and to make matters worse got addicted to that too. Never really used much just about Wong to 2 mg per day. Now after a taper program that went down to .25mg per day I finally stopped. Day one was fine but hell after that. Days 5 to 6 got a lot better but on day 7 I got really sick to my stomach and major leg pains that kept me from sleeping. I still have 3 films and really considered reaching for 1. The stomach pain was horrible for 3 days. Now I'm on day 12 and getting much better but still a bit of a stomach upset, what's killing me it's this Restless leg filling that's keeping me from sleeping. I took mirapex, gabapentin and requip but doesn't seem to help. I have a great job but this tossing and turning all night is taking a toll on me. I feel like giving up. And I hate to after 12 days....gone so far don't want to quit now.. Any advice?

@Watchtiger... Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing. I'm glad you found us.

I can't give you any advice because I've never been through your particular situation. But I do know this: It will get better. Your body just needs to adjust to living without the chemicals it had grown dependent on. Also, I'm wondering if you've talked to a doctor about this. An addiction specialist could likely really help you with your symptoms.

I commend you for getting off of oxy and suboxone. You are taking huge steps to make your life better and healthier. Your 12 days is a great accomplishment. Just keep going. And know that we're rooting for you.

Sending you positive, healing, clean & sober vibes. And lots of hope and encouragement.

    Hi Watchtiger,

It is now 24 days later from your post which hopefully means you have 36 days without suboxone.
I wish I found this forum and joined earlier but your post is the first one I saw and wanted to reply since I have much experience with Suboxone. I have been on suboxone for 7 years now and within the last year realized how damaging it is and started the taper process myself. I was on 16-24mg per day for years and I am now down to 1mg which I can't believe. I can go into a long conversation about what I think about Reckitt Benckiser and suboxone but I'll save that for another time. All I have to say is it has been a long tough road but can't believe I am down to this low amount and almost ready to stop. 12 days without suboxone is sooo amazing and I hope you were able to get through it without taking any because one can set you back more then you know. Although, with that being said depending on what miligram films or tabs you have you can put a small dose aside for emergencies. I call them "Rescuers" I have 2mg films, I cut them in half, (1mg each) then the half I cut into another half diagonally. (.5mg) It will look like a triangle, I found this is the best way to make them equal. Then I take that triangle and cut it in half again (.25) I put a few aside and only use if I absolutley have to! The whole trick to this is you have to be honest with yourself, and I found you have to understand you can't mask all your pains & aches anymore and have to get used to feeling again!!

I have found and taken a lot of different herbs & vitamins through this process that have been miracle savers.
If you would like more information about this I would be more then happy to discuss with you.
I am curious how your doing and would love to hear from you or from anyone that is suffering or needs to talk!

    Wishing you the best!

To the person above may I ask why you were on subs for 7 years?? I jus started on subs for an oxycodone addiction I was dealing with and I know it's a great tool to keep me off them but I don't want to take them so long that I get stuck on them too. Today is my second day without oxy and I do feel great but I know it's the subs working, yesterday before I saw the dr I was in such misery, oxy withdrawals like never before and as soon as the dr came in he gave me two 4mg strips then half of another after 20 minutes and it was night and day for me as the pain was gone!! I know this is far from being over but what I would like to know is does anyone know how long it takes to get addicted to suboxone?? I don't want to take oxy anymore and I don't want to get stuck on subs and have to deal with withdrawals from that. Should I taper down now since I don't hurt from oxys and adjust the dose up if I start feeling bad again?? God bless everyone on this site and anyone reading this because I know we are all here to make a change in our lives. Please if anyone has any advice please let me know!!!!!

@Ldog1941... Talk to your doctor about the dosing of your Suboxone. He/she is the best person to answer your questions about tapering, etc.

It's been 11 days since last taking oxycodone at 210 mgs a day, 4500.00$ a month and 54,000.00$ a year habit, it's been 2 days 3 tomorrow morning since I jumped off suboxone, took it for 8 days at 12mgs (I got down to 2mgs for two days & then back up) and then jumped, feeling light cravings for subs cause it was making me feel a head change but I can't and will not get stuck on it, and to think my dr wants me to take 20mgs a day lol. Instead believe it or not I'm actually going to help my dealer and his wife who have been wanting to get off of oxys as well, ever since they found out that I was able to get off , they have been trying to get into see my dr but they're all booked for the month, so I'm gonna help them get their lives back. So far I feel great and I hope it stays this way, should I start to get wd's from subs I'll take 2mgs and see how many days I can hold out from then. To the new readers PLEASE don't take this med for too long. But God lead them to salvation, oxycodone and OxyContin or heroine does not have to hold us for life, i call oxy the "Devils" drug, 1-2 weeks is all you need to get your life back, I have legitimate back problems and the oxycodone when I was taking it was amplifying it and yes while suboxone will help with pain remember and read what it can do in the long run, remember why you wanted off oxy or heroine. I got my life back on track!! GET YOURS TOO!!!!!!!!
