Hello, I am new to this forum and need skne help. I am trying to ween off Suboxone once and for all! It's been a long process but I am down to taking only 1/4 (2mg) a day. I have been stucm here for a few months. Now I find myself needing and wanting to be done asap. The problem is I have only 3 8mg pills left. So I was wondering if anyone could possibly give me the breakdown of the best way to ween completely off with just 3 pills? I hope this is acceptable to ask in this community. If not I apologize greatly!!! I would be extremely grateful for any help anyone can give me!!

Welcome hello and welcome. Thank you for reaching out. I'm glad that you want to get off Suboxone. I do not know enough about this to give you any advice. It's probably best if you ask an addiction specialist or the physician who prescribed these to you.

Others might be able to help you out more here in the Forum. But I am glad to hear that you're ready to get off. I know the withdrawals might be uncomfortable, but remember that once you're through them, freedom is on the horizon. I just want you to be safe during the detox.

Wow, thank you so much for the kind and encouraging words! My circle of friends is extremely small and I don't often hear positive things like that so I greatly appreciate it! Yeah, I know the detox is rough, been there a hundred times before, but I am truly done. I can not wait for the day when I don't have to rely on taking something every day just to feel ok. I may try to contact an addiction specialist, I am weening off against my doctor's advice so he was not willing to give me any advice as to how. But it's happening no matter what! Wish me luck and thanks again!!

@Kmac76... Welcome to the community and big kudos to you for wanting to get off of Suboxone. I'm proud of you for making that decision!

@Dominica is right: We're not medical doctors here, and we can't really give advice when it comes to weaning off of meds. But talking to an addiction specialist would be a great idea. They can help you with that for sure. If you're in the U.S., you can find an addiction specialist in your area by using the Find a Doctor tool at the American Society of Addiction Medicine's website. Here's the link:

I'm glad you reached out. Please know that you can lean on us anytime for help or support. We are also good listeners if you ever need to vent.
