We have all tasted some tablet or other in our life. Not all of them are Bad. Some smell Weird, some taste weird, others look weird. What are your experiences with accidentally or maybe intentionally tasting your Tablet? List them below with the Composition of the Tablet that you took. I once accidentally Chewed Paracetamol and could never stop feeling the discomfort in my mouth.
As a former prescription drug addict, I can say most of the sedative drugs taste bitter. However, there are also sugar coated drugs that makes easier to take. Some chew-able tablets, Digen for example, are good to taste. Calcium tablets have lemony flavor.
I think making prescription pills taste bad could be a good thing. I mean, do you really want to make certain pills taste good? I remember taking too many chewable vitamins as a kid, because they were good. But that is really dangerous. My multi vitamin tastes kinda gross, but I can still swallow it. I think maybe anything with dextromethephan and codeine should be flavored to taste bad.
Pills should be nasty that's why you have to swallow them. If a pill taste like a starburst you will crave the feeling and taste of it. Any prescription medicine should be taken as needed. Remember there pills not candy.
I have not accidently chewed one of my medications but I have had it get stuck in my mouth for too long and started to dissolve and then could taste it. It was not a good taste either but I think that medication should taste bad so that you do not take too much just because you like the taste of it. When I began giving my children gummy vitamins, I made it perfectly clear that it was medicine and kept them out of their reach.
I have never tasted one that even remotely tasted good. I don't know what kinds of pills you people have been tasting lol . I think flavoring pills is a big no-no when it comes to pharma companies. Don't want anything to taste good.
Most of the prescription drugs I have come across have a bitter to somewhat sour flavour. I think part of the reason for not sugar coating them is to serve as a subtle red flag against overdose. The active principles behind most of these drugs are alkaloids which are basic in nature and have a bitter taste.
Even when I'm sick, I dislike taking pills or tablets because they taste horrible. If I didn't need them, I wouldn't take them. I remember when I got this terrible flu, I was on meds for a week. I think the taste of the meds got stuck in my tongue. Even my breath smelled like meds. Ugh!
The worst taste of tablet I have experienced is Chloro quine. Oh my, I felt like my soul was about to jump out of my body with the cringe of confusion mixed with disgust and bitterness. Paracetamol taste is much more bearable than any quinine tablet. It is something I pray never happens to me ever again.
Some of the pills I have accidentally tasted have left me with a bad taste in my mouth for sure. It is one of the ways that I have gotten some of the worst tastes in my mouth. I think that pills should not taste good though because people might take them even more than they do now. Pill parties are like some of the most inane things..I have ever heard of.
Some of these tablets a very bad tasting, and sometimes the taste lingers in my mouth for a little while. Therefore, I try to avoid getting the taste of tablets in my mouth. However, sometimes no matter how careful I may try to be, the tablets get stuck to my tongue and before I may be able to swallow I may experience the taste.
Every time I see the title of this discussion I get this image of somebody licking their iPad. Just had to say that. Now carry on.
I thought you meant tablets like iPads haha, I was about to say "Who would be addicted to tasting their tablet?" But on a more serious note, I don't think I have intentionally wanted to taste any of my pills that I take for medicinal purposes because I had a bitter (excuse the pun) experience when accidentally biting them when I was younger. I remember having to take tablets to treat my acne as a teenager and I would forget that I need to take them before I eat breakfast, the few times that I accidentally took them afterwards were horrible. Stomach acid would run up into my mouth and there would literally be this visible cloud of gas that came out my mouth. It would burn the inside of my mouth and it was disgusting. That taught me to respect the rules and precautions that were printed on the tablet box because they are there for a reason.
