The smell of gas

I know quite a few people who love the smell of gas. Is there anything in gas that could be considered addictive? I too like the smell of it, but I know better than to just sit there and sniff it just because. If I get a whiff while pumping it or something I just find it to be a pleasant smell. You would think they would make it smell horrible like diesel or something.

I noticed something very odd one day after coming home after a morning running a lot errands. Well, apparently my step-dad had taken the little gas tank and used it to cook (since the bigger one surely became empty). So he didn't install the whole thing right. I came into the room and noticed an odd noise, like a ''sizing''. Then I was alerted by a bunch of flies flying near that tank. I then got closer and yes the gas was escaping.

I also wondered back then what gas has to make it so attractive to even flies? Those flies were flying around that area where the gas was escaping, it was thanks to them I found out the was was escaping. I joked with my mom by saying: Those flies were trippin' when I got home'', lol.

This is something new to me. I guess maybe because gas is so expensive you may like the smell of it pumping in your car. This could be the same thing as someone being addicted to the smell of money. There's all kinds of things people can be addicted to. But I think you should be careful with smelling gas or being around these harmful fumes to0 much.

I've seen this on the TLC show My Strange Addiction a few times and it can cause awful things to ones body. I remember one where a woman carried around a water bottle with a small amount of gas in it, she was also on The Bill Cunningham Show. She'd been doing it for years and randomly blacks out sometimes and has mostly lost her sense of smell. Another young her has constant headaches if she didn't smell gas. So, depending on how real these shows are (we know how TV is), It might actually be a real problem for some.

That is so weird, as a kid I loved the smell my parents thought I was fucked. As I grew up I stopped liking it so much.

I could see how some people would sniff it just to sniff it, but I do not go to that extreme. I just think it is pleasant smell when I am at the pump putting it in my car. I do not see how people enjoy the smell of money. I think it smells gross and is full of germs.

I do, and I never know why honestly. I have a garage in my backyard where my family use to store the gasoline and gas and you can small it all around the box. It's really good and tasty. I would love to have a sip if it wouldn't be poisonous.

I think some people like to try it as it is easy and can just get addicted due to the fumes coming from the car or from a petrol bottle, which I have seen some people do and don't think of the consequences from doing this. Some people may get started by experimentation or by the environment they live in, and maybe even their friends may tell them that it is really good and a nice feeling as well. It is interesting how this addiction can occur and also can be hard to get rid of, as the smell to some people can be nice and get's them drunk in the process as well.

I am not sure if there is a high attached to the smell but I know I love smelling it too! Thank God I am not alone!

Lots of people find the smell uncomfortable or unpleasant but I love to take a big old whiff.

I like the scent of it if I'm smelling it in passing, but I've never thought about huffing it or anything - but I have no doubt that people do. To me it's similar to liking the smell of permanent markers, that's another chemically smelling type thing that I enjoy the scent of. I think there's a difference between thinking something smells pleasant and being addicted to the scent.

I love to get a wiff of gas when pumping it. I wish I knew why it smells so good to me. I know I can't just get a container of the stuff, and just sniff it without killing brain cells. I also use to love to smell my uncles Zippo lighter as a kid I would open it and sniff it until he took it from me. Very addictive smells they are to me.

Whenever my husband will go to a gas station to put fuel in our car I am always covering my nose because I cannot stand the smell of the gas that makes me nauseous at times. That is why I do not know why some people likes the scent or smell of gas which is bad for our lungs.

I am also guilty of liking the smellnof gas whenever we are at a gas station. I like it but not enough to lug around a bottle of gas and sniff it all day. I guess there is something addicting in its smell. Some people like me are attracted to it, others not so much. It can really cause some health issues so sniffing it whole day can really be bad.

I love the smell of gas but I have definitely never had the desire to go out and huff something lol.

The huffing of gas is considered a dangerous addiction due to the toxic fumes that octane releases. The reason people do it is because it gets them *high* to a point, but remember that this is due to all of the harmful chemicals and also the mass killing of your brain cells.

I would definitely advise against doing anything along the lines of gas or gas huffing.

I enjoy the smell of gas, but I don't think I could ever directly huff the stuff. Huffing things like gas and paint is fairly common, weirdly enough.

I used to like the smell of gas when I was young, like around 12. My parents actually joked around saying I should be a gas pumper if I liked it so much lol. Don't like it too much now.

Nobody around where I lived has ever tried to huff it haha. That seems like an outlandish thing to partake in in the first place.

The smell of gasoline or petrol as it's known in my part of the world does indeed smell nice. I absolutely love the smell but I learned from an early age no to inhale it in, my father warned me about the dangers.

However, if you're referring to LPG or cooking gas. Then no, I absolutely hate how it smells and I start feeling nauseous.
