Most smokers don't really get the full tobacco smell. I was recently with friend that has stop smoking for about 8 months now and after I had lighting up he turned to me and said that he loved the smell. He said he would never smoke again but really liked the smell.
I personally don't find the smell all that great, do non-smokers or past smokers like the smell of tobacco?

I think it's a bit of a mixed bag to be honest. I've known people who have stopped smoking who now can't stand the smell of cigarettes and others who love it.

What I have noticed is that the people who have stopped who claim to find it easy, are the ones who also claim they hate the smell. That to me suggests they're covering up the fact that they are still addicted but won't admit it.

I stopped smoking over a year ago and I absolutely hate the smell of cigarettes. I can't stand when people smoke around me because I know that the stench is going to stick to my hair and clothes. My friend actually smoked around me tonight and it made me gag. I'm glad that it makes me feel that way, though. It's nice to not want to smoke.

Not all former smokes like the smell of cigarettes. There are some who don't mind the smell maybe because nicotine cravings aren't completely gone.

However there are others who don't to be exposed to it. A friend of mine who used to be a chain smoker no longer can stand the smell of cigarettes, says it makes him nauseous.

I'm not that bothered by the smell of cigarettes really and I have to admit that I still really enjoy the smell of freshly opened rolling tobacco but I don't intend to smoke it ever again. I find that the thing that gets to me is the smell of people in the evening after they have been smoking all day. I expect that's just the build-up of the day though and nothing that a clean shirt and a quick wash can't sort out.

So whilst I do still get the occasional craving, that particular smell reinforces my decision not to pick up the cigs again.

I used to hate the smell of tobacco when I was younger but as soon as I became a smoker myself I started to like it. When I gave up and started to notice the smell more on other people, especially heavy smokers, I found it absolutely disgusting. I do, however, still like the smell of both cigar tobacco and pipe tobacco and always have.

The smell will go unnoticed when you're a smoker - it's just something you get used to. Just like going into your home - you will not smell anything although other people might notice a specific smell. It's just human nature - can't do much about it. However, not all the smells are bad for non-smokers - cigars for example are known for their very distinct and good smell.

It's gross. Both of my parents smoked. I hated it.

I guess everybody is different. I really don't think the smell is that great either. But people have triggers to smells also, sometimes good experiences are linked to smells. It's like a person who just got a new car for the first time
would remember when he had to put gas in the car, and started liking the smell of gas or something. Who knows this could be the reason your friend likes the smell of cigarettes.

I actually love the smell, and taste of cigarettes.
That is one of the reasons it has been so hard for me to quit, I really do love smoking. I don't love what it does to my health or my wallet, but I love smoking itself.
I am just trying extremely hard to remember that quitting smoking is best for me, and that I am strong enough to be able to do it.

One of my sisters was like that. She loved smoking and enjoyed every cigarette to the fullest. She did quit though quite a few years ago now but she still says if it wasn't bad for her health or if she found out she was dying she would go back to smoking in a minute!

I'm an active smoker and I personally don't like the smell of cigarettes. I've noticed that I can smell the stench of the cigarettes more, when I've spent 8 or 9 hours without smoking. If the time between cigarettes is of 1 or 2 hours, then they won't smell bad to me. I do always like the smell of regular cigars and vanilla flavored cigars when other people are smoking them though.

When I was in primary grade, I liked the smell of cigarette smoke. It was when I was aware about the ill effects of secondhand smoke when I suddenly found myself cringing at the smell of the smoke. The only smoke I can personally say that I like is the smell of burned rolled dried jamun leaves. For tobacco smoke, it stinks.

I think it's different for all people. My best friend, who quit smoking a year before I did, would go outside with me just to smell the cigarette I was smoking. I, on the other hand, cannot stand the smell of it. My husband still smokes and I'm always asking him to spray some cologne and wash his hands when he gets back from smoking.

I really hate it. This is why I prefer to go out earlier whenever I go with the gang, mainly because I am the only person that doesn't smoke and my clothes smell like sh*t .

It's bad for the health anyway.

I spoke to a colleague of mine last week, he stopped smoking 7 months ago and he said the very same thing. I was having a smoke at that time and he said if he knew he had a terminal disease he would start smoking in an instant.

Well, not me. I hate it. every time I have a smoke and go straight into a room with air conditioner, I can smell the cigarette on me, and it smells pretty bad. If that's me, I can only imagine how I smell to someone who doesn't smoke at all.

I used to smoke 12 years ago and I don't like the smell of Tobacco smoke when it gets in your clothes and if you live in a big city and commutes daily all the traffic smoke including your cigarette smoke turns your dress shirt into a chimney filter. The first thing I noticed when I quit smoking my sense of smell became stronger or more sensitive.

I love the smell of tobacco (not the smell of smoke). It's in my top pleasant smells list, and I find it very nice when someone subtly smells like it. I wish I could have that scent, but I don't know how to get it.

I do not see how anyone could actually like the smell of cigarettes, I am an ex smoker and think they stink. I even thought they stunk when I smoked them. I really do not like the smell of the vape smoke either as it is a musty smell. The only tobacco I do not really mind smelling is the cherry pipe tobacco.
