How do you cope with the tiredness that comes from dealing with an addiction, whether you are still using or quit, or simply dealing with an addict. How do you cope with the bone crushing tiredness that comes with it every single day? It's a different kind of tiredness than normal, no matter how much sleep you get,nor matter how much coffee you drink, you're still tired.

I think the best way is to find something to be passionate about. If you are able to sink your thoughts into something you can genuinely get lost in, then the time will pass by more easily and after each activity you would feel more fulfilled even if you feel tired. Also, having something like this will give you something else to look forward to and will hopefully help in distracting you enough from negative traits and thoughts.

I always feel like I am tired, exhausted, and burned out even if I haven't done anything like a heavy workload. I guess we just go through that sometimes.

Tiredness has always been a major problem to me. Being addict to alcohol, in the last stage of my addiction, it used to cause me sleepiness and made me feel tired all day.

Once in recovering, tiredness made me feel the temptation to relapse in order to get a shot that could cheer me up. Needless to say, doing it didn't help either.

Finally, I found that washing my face with cold water, opening the window to feel the wind and eventually go to walk around contribute a lot to get rid of the tiredness sensation. Sometimes I have to walk slowly feeling lack of energy, but the walking time bring it back to some extent.

Get your doctor to check your Vitamin B levels. I was suffering terribly with tiredness - completely exhausted from one end of the day to the other, even if I didn't do very much. Turns out I was severely deficient in Vitamin B which you need for all sorts of functions in your body, and especially for helping turn your food into fuel for energy. I was so dangerously deficient that I have to have monthly injections of Vitamin B - I can't absorb it due to other digestive issues - but it may be that you just need a course of Vitamin B pills to get you feeling better and more energetic again.

Obviously, take a look at your diet too.

I feel like this sometimes. Many times, it's like a call to listen closely to your body -- are you overpushing yourself? Too much stress? Have you bad sleeping cycles? Do you get all your nutrients? Do you eat too much food that slows down your metabolism? Have you taken a moment to just relax and, I don't know, eat a fruit and do some yoga? Have you cleared your mind of trouble and found it in you to focus and "wake up" from being fuzzy and tired through that?

If your body is giving you signs of fatigue, it is something you should look deeply into. Babies, even without clear conciousness, know to give signals when something is wrong and we, as grown-up, tune into it and try to find the cause to remedy it. We should try it just the same for ourselves!

I know that exact feeling you are describing @Clairelouise84. That feeling like you can't even summon the energy to get out of bed, let alone get yourself into the shower. With me, I think it was down to depression and a general lack of nourishment, seeing as though I barely ate during the "cocaine years".

I think if your always tired then a trip to the doctor might be called for, just to see if theirs any underlying issues.

I went through a stage in my life when I could barely summon the energy to leave the house on some days, that was down to depression and trying to cope with an addiction.

I think that there are many things that can completely tire you out besides addictions. It is a case of the problems and stresses of life wearing you out. This is normal in any given situation where there is a high level of stress. You have to be aware of this and do everything to maintain yourself in good health if you are to handle the situation. Getting enough sleep, eating well and exercising are of vital importance. Above all remain calm and be sure to have a quiet prayer time, even if you are the addict.

That is a very good idea, having something I enjoy doing will make me feel more positive and I will be more productive. Something physical will take the edge off the mental exhaustion and hopefully it will leave me sleeping better at night and feeling better during the day.

You might well have hit the nail on the head there! I have digestive issues and I do suffer with vitamin B deficiency and B deficiency anaemia so that could be very strongly related to it. I had blood tests on Friday for something else so that should flag up any problems, thank you, I had not thought of that,

I might be pushing myself but I am under some work pressure so maybe taking some time off might help? I have terrible trouble sleeping but can't be prescribed anything for sleep. I have had some blood tests done so they will figure out if it is something physical rather than psychological.

I do suffer with depression and I think it might be getting on top of me again to tell you the truth so maybe I should get that checked out. That feeling is awful as there is nothing you or anyone else can really do about it, you just have to get through it and force yourself which is the hardest thing in the world.

I have gone to the doctor about my vitamins but I may go about the depression I suffer with as I have not taken pills for many years now and maybe I need to start taking them again.

I am very stressed at the moment to be honest, there is a lot going on and I am unhappy with quite a few areas of my life so I need to remedy them before I can feel 100% better I think. But I definitely need to get ore sleep as I am very physically tired too.

I think if your suffering from depression, even if it's just that your feeling a little down then there's no harm in going to your doctor just to see what they can suggest.

Tiredness is often linked to depression so that might be worth looking at.

My only advice to you can only be, don't wait until you completely burn out to give yourself a break. I know work is highly valued, but the fact is most people do not know their limits before they are a mile beyond them. Listen to your body and give it what it needs.

Fatigue can be caused by a number of factors. I don't think it is atypical for someone to experience tiredness arising from dealing with addiction. We tire ourselves doing much more insignificant tasks. It is pretty much natural to feel exhausted after this emotional and often physical strain has been put on your body. You're no different than any of us, don't worry.

It is definitely worht having your vitamin levels checked out. I've been feeling pretty simialr for the past 3-4 months and a trip to the docs last week revealed I was deficient in Vitamins D and B-12. I've started on an industrial strength dose and am already starting to feel a little better.
