Tramadol illegal?

Discussion in 'Other Substances' started by codeofthegrave, Jul 5, 2015.

  1. Is tramadol an illegal drug? I've seen some places that have openly sold it online. Even banners and ads for it. But then you're told that you have to be mindful of what country you're in to purchase it

Tramadol (Ultram) is a prescription drug. It is a painkiller, sort of like Vicodin. It is a controlled substance here in the United States and you must have a prescription from a medical doctor to obtain it. It can be addictive just like other prescription pain killers.

In UK it is a prescription only drug. This means that only a doctor can prescribe it. Only a pharmacist in reciept of the presription can dispense it and Only the person who the prescrption was wriiten for can take it and you cannot buy it over the counter.

It is an analgesic ( painkiller) for moderate to severe pain. It is an opioid drug that comes in capsule form of 50mg Tramadol per capsule.

Tramadol when orally ingested turns to morphine approximatley half an hour after ingestion. It's nearest equal is 5mg of Oramorph Syrup.

In some other countries Tramadol is on the Controlled Drug List.

Morphine, Diamorphine (heroine) and others are NOT illegal drugs if you have been legitimally prescribed them by a Certified Doctor who is legally able to presribe these drugs in the country in which you live.

To obtain controlled or prescription drugs that have not been prescribed to you is illegal.

To sell prescription drugs to another person is illegal.

To use a prescription drug that has not been legitimatly prescribed to you by a doctor is illegal in most countries that I know of.

Its illegal for anyone to possess it without a prescription because it is a controlled substance. If you are prescribed Tramadol by a doctor, you are the only one allowed to have possession of your pills.

Tramadol is the generic name for Ultram, which is a medication by prescription only. It would be illegal, if it was not prescribed to you by a doctor

No, it is not illegal, it is a prescription medication. It has been shown that some ppl can easily become physically dependent on it... have a read of the prescribing information if you are interested in reading more about the drug

You should be able to buy it over the counter just like co codomal and if people get addicted its their own fault whilst most of us are responsible enough to use the minimum amount. Another screwed up law in the so called Great Britain that screws its own people.
