Singer-songwriter James Taylor talks about his addiction and shares some advice for addicts in this short video. Definitely worth watching. http://www.oprah.com/own-master-class/James-Taylors-Best-Advice-for-Addicts-Sweat-It-Out-Video#
Sadly, I can't seem to watch the video. It looks like it's not available in my country. Anyway, I agree with what he said about addicts should sweat it out if they really want to be successful in recovery. They have got to work hard for it.
I've read about his battles before and I believe he had a brother too that actually passed away as a result of alcohol abuse - if I'm thinking of the right guy. Glad he's speaking out about confronting addiction!
You're right @doatk22. James Taylor speaking out about his past experiences with addiction and his advice for others who are still struggling right now is a good way to influence them to change and seek help. Him speaking out helps people feel that addiction is a problem encountered by everyone and that it is always possible to change back to sobriety.
Yes, Taylor was a serious heroin addict at one time....and I am so glad he was able to recover and continue to make beautiful music. He has a rare and God given talent and it would have been a shame if that was silenced forever. Naturally, addiction recovery is no easier for the famous and talented among us, than it is for anyone else.
I was able to watch the video using a VPN, and I'm glad I did! James Taylor's past experiences are really gloomy, I'm glad he made it through and he's able to talk about them! Thanks for sharing!
Or you can search it on youtube and enter; Oprah Winfrey Master Class James Taylor : addiction The video is here on youtube. He looked so different when he was younger. He says sweat it out.
That is an interesting video. Nice that he was able to made such video and gave those advice. He can serve as an inspiration and living proof that addiction can be defeated.
