Wellbutrin is a relatively mild antidepressant that I took many years ago to relieve overactive emotional stress. But a friend of mine recently got off it, saying that it "took away her conscience" and made her struggle to stay off it. Any similar experiences out there? Or dissimilar?
It seems to me as though antidepressants clearly stopped your friend from worrying about things. Conscience is quite an individual thing after all and it's likely she realised that she wasn't feeling bad about doing things which she might previously have worried about.
I have always worried about the effects of anti depressents. I have never heard of people losing their conscience from using such a pill. That is scary on its own and is more than enough to convince me that I might want to try a safer alternative. I'm glad your friend was able to recognize what was going on before it was too late.
Well, she also started treating her husband and her coworkers very poorly, and her instincts on the job suffered (she was a labor lawyer or something). She regarded it as a net negative to her life.
Overactive emotional stress? I've not heard of that one. I guess they come up with anything to hook you in. "took away the conscience" sounds like it made her narcissistic. The thing to keep in mind is that drugs and that is any kind of drugs seriously effect ones behavior. If you are doing things off color and not caring about it. It would be just about any drug that could effect you this way. If you are not yourself I'm not sure why anyone would want to take something like this. There are much better ways to handle stress.
I was on Wellbutrin for a few years and never had this sort of problem with it. I am sure that everyone is different on these type of medications and experience different side effects on them. It is best to be under the supervision of a physician while taking these medicines.
Anti depressants have been known to have lots of side effects. I've heard that some anti depressants can cause mood swings. I really think any one using them should be aware about the side effects before using them. I always think the best thing to do is look for alternatives if you can.
That's an interesting side effect, I did take this and did not experience this but everyone has different results. It might not have been the appropriate fit for her, medically if that is how she reacted to the dosing.
If any thing takes away someones conscience that's bad. I have really never heard of any body loosing there conscience from a prescription. Knowing the difference between right and wrong should be instilled in someone from child hood. If a drug can take away your conscience this could be a real problem.
