I hope this helps alot of people and encourages them to get through another day without their addictions. Being here has so much support from so many people. It is a good enviroment. This is also a good place for people who are not open because they can safely keep their identies and find answers they need or to vent what they are going through.
We're glad you're finding this forum useful, @Makana! Keep coming back to read and share. That's what it's all about!
I am glad this board is open to everyone including family members trying to understand substance abuse. It is good to hear the various stories of what others are going through. I am hoping to find some information to help my brother. As kids we grew up in a home where both our parents were alcoholics. The good thing is both my parents overcame it. The bad thing is my brother did not. I didn't pick up the habit. I tried to drink a few times---even got drunk, but I didn't see any fun in it. I do like that this board deals with all addictions including food. That's where my stuggle is.
@Deeishere... Welcome to the community and thanks for the kind words. If you explore the various discussions here, I'm pretty confident that you'll find some info that will help your brother. I'm sorry that your brother is struggling, but it's great that you care about him enough to come here looking for help. Feel free to reach out with questions anytime you want to. We're glad you're here.
I will and thanks so much. I really wish I knew about this site years ago. I think I would of handle things better with him. But at least I have a place to go. I already saw some things that I feel will be beneficial to him.
I believe the first thing I would have done after joining this forum is to thank you from the bottom of my heart for having genuine concern and compassion for people struggling with addiction issues. There are not so many places where recovering addicts get such a warm welcome. This is a place where I feel understood and respected for the efforts I'm making to stay clean. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly.
Such a great and wonderful space. I commend you on providing this service, very important community. Do you guys also offer program referrals or things of that nature?
I think you did a really good thing here Joe, based on the responses in this community there are alot of people who use and can benefit from this group. I have noticed a lot of great responses here and people seem to really benefit from the ideas that are set out in this group. There is no doubt that substance abuse and addiction gives individuals a devastating result in their lives.
@integrity101... Wow. Thanks so much for that beautiful post. We want people to feel safe, understood, and respected here. So I'm glad you feel comfortable. That means a lot to everyone here. We're super glad you're a part of this community!
Thank you for this. Sometimes it seems easier to talk to strangers about problems, eventhough i am not a fan of spilling my life out to the world
I have been on this forum for a while. In the past couple of months, this forum has become a wonderful place to learn and share. I know how bad can drug addiction be because I have had a friend who died of drug abuse. I have also alcoholic in mt extended family and I understand the consequences.
Hi I just wanted to say thank you so much for allowing me here. Apart from being a good listener and having lots of experience with addictions etc. I have alo experienced my own personal problems through life and I was at rock bottom during one stage. I hope my feedback will help
This forum is a wonderful community, so many members from all walks of life offering support and feedback. The single most important aspect of a successful recovery is building a solid support system. Forums like this one offer a vast pool of recovery experience to people who may not have access to outside support in their surrounding community. thank you for this place!
Thanks so much for your kind words, @lost247. We are happy you're here with us and hope everyone has the same experience that you've had so far.
Thank you so much for the forum Joe! It is amazing to read other peoples stories whether they may be happy or depressing stories, we can all help each other and make each others lives to the best as we possibly can. Isn't that how world peace supposed to work?
As both a psychology student and child of an addict, I just want to say thank you @Joseph for this website. Community support is invaluable when people work towards any sort of self-improvement, but particularly when in recovery. Unfortunately, there are so many gaps in the mental health care system (in America anyway) and people constantly fall through the cracks and can't be given the support they need. Plus, people are often ashamed to reach out for support irl because of the stigma of mental illness. These comfortably anonymous forums are filled with compassion and I plan to not only frequent this website myself but recommend it to future clients.
I think this is an awesome community. I think I have contributed my opinions well and some people have learned from them, at the same time I have learned a lot being here. I have heard many stories from many people and I enjoy the positive atmosphere this community has. I hope to carry on my journey here and keep learning! Thanks for making this forum, I think you have saved many people's lives by doing so.
Thank you very much for making such a wonderful forum. In my opinion, this is the best place for the drug addicts to get the required help and support. There are many people seeking help from other people and this forum connect both of them together. Wow! that is really a great idea. Once again, Thank You!
