You can't make anyone stop drinking or using (sad reality)

Thank you for making this thread, because this really can't be said enough. As much as we may want to swoop in like a white knight and rescue somebody from addiction, as much as we know what they should do and we can give them advice, as much as we can even give tough love and break contact if needed, nothing can make a person change except themselves. We can't "fix" anyone. Sometimes we have to accept that the person we knew is gone and move on from that.
